Guest guest
Maybe it's wrong from an enlightened viewpoint and thanks for pointing that out. However, it isn't wrong from ignorance where slutty girls are easy and give you herpes. I was only really meaning that with the wife lower and higher nature are perfected just as with shakti, instead of seeking the lower form of love which is lust. The only reason one is higher and one is lower is because one leads to eternity and one leads to mortality. Not meaning to offend anyone. I guess I was being a bit flippant. Sorry - nora55_1999 Friday, February 08, 2002 10:02 AM Re: S/S? Greetings eve_69.You remarked : "I love shakti for the exact same reason I love my wife……. Just knowing she's there makes me calm and then I can do higher things than just think about having sex with a slut"Isnt it kinda of strange for you to say I love shakti and yet later on you called another Shakti a slut? What ever the person is, Idon't think so its right to call her as such. When Ramakrishna encountered women brought by well wishers to make him taste the pleasures of the flesh in order to divert his mind from what they considered an unnatural obsession with the divine, he saw in them the embodiment of the same purity which was there in his Mother. Ramakrishna saw the divine mother in everyone incuding his wife.I remember reading a book about Shiva and why he is special, and the only one to be the consort of Devi. Once Devi appears before the three of them ( Brahman, Vishnu and Shiva ) in one of her most fierceful form. Brahman just turn his head, and Vishnu close his eyes. Shiva look at Devi and smile. Another story tells of how the Devi again appear before the three of them in yet another horrible form, this time like a decompose corpse. And again Brahma turn his head, Vishnu hide his face, but Shiva embrace Devi lovingly. What makes Shiva so special is that he is aware of everything at all times and he is almost never touched by Maya. He is able to see beyond all Maya. This is what I am referring to when I said in the message (Inconversation : the left handed path)of becoming Shiva. I do agree with you that this argument about who is higher : Shakti or Shiva is pointless. Its like the egg and the chicken debate. Ultimately they are all the same and equal. Its how you approach the Divine, how are you connected to Devi and your beliefs about HER divinity including HER power and strength. Guest guest
I don't want to start this topic because I love all women and feel that socalled whores are actually victims of society except for them that like their profession and chose it. However whores do exist so I'm not wrong in using the analogy just as also black and white, and male and female exist so also does a pure and a sullied woman and a pure and perverted man. I'm just using opposites to express a situation but I wouldn't defend my viewpoint from many women at once because they would stone me. So have it your way. I have no problem with profligate women, except I wouldn't marry one. Is that better? I was only saying that you enlightened people may view women as the divine instead of as flesh but us unenlightened people still see and try to feel the flesh as well. With my analogy I meant that ones attention flows towards the inner beauty or the outer. One who's attention flows towards the inner finds always greater beauty but one who's attention flows towards the flesh eventually loses the enchantment because all physical beauty fades as does lust and so is replaced by mortality. - prainbow61 Friday, February 08, 2002 5:08 PM Re: S/S? Namaste, The problems with the dicotomy of sexual expectations for women are worth discussing from a spiritual perspective, though this may prove difficult as these issues are very emotional. For myself, it seems that a system that divides women into mothers/wives and whores serves only to remove power from all women and pit them against each other in competition for negligible amounts of privilege. It is a fact of public health that it is easier for a male to transmit a sexually transmitted disease than a woman. I can't tell you how many times I have seen men with wedding rings and baby car seats in their cars cruising the prostitution district in my U.S. city. I'm sure their wives don't know that they are now at health risk because of their husband's behavior. I believe that it is the responsiblility of those who took the vows to keep them. Those wives were promised nothing by the women who work in the sex trade. They were promised everything by the men who betray them. That situation angers me. I am further angered by news reports of women being thrown out of their homes when it is discovered that they have AIDS, even when it is their husbands who gave that to them. I was deeply troubled recently when a woman in Africa who sued for child support ended up stoned to death as punishment for adultery under "Sharia" laws. I do not see the benefit to women in general when we divide them into 2 categories: good and bad. Even the "good" women suffer from undue restriction and loss of power. This system seems designed only to control women, not to appreciate them.I appreciate the opportunity to share my views on this, and hope I have not offended anyone.
