Guest guest
for the courtesy of your time and efforts in reproducing the 'old' posts of baburoy, devi_bhakta on instant goddesses to this group. it brought back some happy memories. why not worship our 'motherland' as the 'nother' herself? as shri rama says to his brother lakshmana in the ramayana, all the 'gold' and 'spledor' of sri lanka does not attract shri rama as much as his love for his motherlnad, the country of his birth. Janani janambhoomicha swargathapi gariyasi- mother and motherland are more dearer than heaven itself! that is why indians worship their motherland as 'bharst mata' -in fact. shri aurobindo ha composed a very patriotic poem comparing the motherland to the divine mother- i will post it soon! the only people who call their country 'father land' are germans! as far as 'tamizh thai' is concerned , we all call a language as a mother tongue not as a father tongue. most of us associate our 'learning' abilities with our womb mother - is this not so? natrually. since learning is associted with goddess saraswati- no wonder we want to 'idolize' our mother tongue! tamizh thai- as far as santoshi maa is concerned, she is of recent origin and as devi bhakta says the film did popularize this image of the mother goddsss and women in northern india do worship santoshi maa on fridays and obseve 'fast' etc. happy chinese new year, nora! in loving service
