Guest guest
namaskar avasa, what a 'divine' response to nora's first question - i enjoyed readding every word of it.. the love between a man and a woman is the 'small ' love what is called conjugal love ! but when this ;'small' love turns into 'big' love for the divinity in each other and together , in this case, shri ramakrishna and sree sarada devi turne their big 'love' into the LOVE FOR THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, all of god/dess's creation. in this context, i want to relate an incident from thr life of shri ramakrishna. Sri Ramakrishna often put Sarada's spiritual yearning to test. One day he asked her: `I have a duty towards you. Have you come to drag me down into worldly life?' Sarada replied: `Why should I do so? I am here to help you in realising your spiritual ideal.' Sarada too,one day asked him, as she was stroking his feet, `How do you regard me?' He replied: `The Mother who is worshipped in the temple, and the mother who gave birth to this [pointing to his body] and is now living in the Nahabat -- the same mother is now stroking my feet. Really and truly I always regard you as the embodiment of the blissful Mother of the Universe.' In fact, Sri Ramakrishna, so as to test his steadfastness in the realisation of Brahman, asked her to sleep in the same bed for nearly nine months. But both their minds were so immersed in spiritual bliss that the desire for worldly enjoyment never crossed their minds. Indeed, their relationship was unique. in hinduism, it is said "para bharyeshu Matruvath" regard other man's wife as your own MOther. what it means is do not look upon other women with 'lustful' eyes! there is an incident in ramayana- when rama asked lakshmana to identify sita's jewels (the jewels that fell off sita's body while ravana was abduting sita) lakshmana was only able to identify sita's anklets on the feet - all the other jwels he was not able to identify as sita's jeweles- lakshmana's answer was- " brother rama, i have only looked at mother seetha's feet- not any other part of her body." well, this may all sound 'silly' in this 21st century! i like to end with tis verse... yathaagnerdaahikaasaktii raamakrsne sthitaa hi yaa | sarvavidyaasvaroopaam taam saaradaam pranamaamyaham || I salute Sarada Devi the embodiment of all knowledge, who exists in Sri Ramakrishna as the burning power exists in fire. Jai gurudeva! jai mahakali! ********************************************************************** avasa, keep writing, you are lighting up the lamp of love in this shrine dedicated to the divine mother! thank you , my dear! love and only more love
