Guest guest
Shiva and his divine consort Shakti are *inseperable*from each other; like word and its meaning. The famous poet Kalidasa expresses this in this fashion in the opening verse of his KUMARA-SAMBHAVAM (the birth of lord kumara, son of parvati -pameshwera.). Vagarthadaiva samprktau vagarthaa pratipattaye Jagatah pitarau vande Parvati Parameshwehvaran " In order to achieve the comprehension of word and meaning, I salute the parents of the universe, Parvati AND Parameshwara, who are inseperable like word and its meaning. In tantra and vedanta , Brahman and ShAKTI , OR sHIVA AND SHakti are used alternatively. Siva or BraHman is immobile , and the energy of movement is in the ShAKTI or the immanent aspect. in the very first verse of Soundarya Lahari, 'waves of divine splendor' , adi shankara sings the glory of divine mother thus ... Sivah saktya yukto yadi bhavati kinchit prabhavitum na cdedvam devo na khalu khalu kusalaha spanditumapi... " if shiva is united with shakti, he becomes capable to project this universe. if not, he is not capable of even moving his limbs." This world of multiplicity, this world of manifestation, is thus in the realm of Shakti. when one transcends this world of duality in the deepest nirvikalpa state of samadh, one realizes Brahman, the impersonal apect of the ultmate reality. but for most of us, the DIVINE MOTHER is, and remains , the supreme reality! Sree lalita sahasaranama salutes the unity of shiva and shakti thus... Siva-sakty aikyarupiniyai namaha! salutions to HER who represents the union of shiva and shakti! om tat sat!
