Guest guest
hello harsha, it is our pleasure to welcome you to this shrine of sevi and her bhaktas. we have already enjoyed many of your erudite posts on sree mata lalita tripura sundari and shree vidua upasana in our shakti sadhnaa club. we are glad you made it here! thanx and welcome again! harsha there is an interesting discussion going on here about sati's incatnation as 'dakshayani' - sati of course means one who is established in 'truth' - one of my sources (web of course) tells me that sati incarnated on this earth for two reasons. 1) one to teach daksha a lesson in 'humility' as he was full of false pride and arrogance. 2) here is this story as narrated in the beginning of ramayana as to the reason for sat's reimcarnation. . The Ramayan starts with Sati , the consort of Shivja wondering and questioning. She said to Shiva that she could not agree that Shri Rama was the Lord God Himself in whom Shiva had such intrinsic faith. How could Shri Rama be so disconsolate, when he lost Seeta and could not find her? How could he tearfully ask every tree and shrub where Seeta was? Sati scoffed and wondered aloud. Though Shivai explained that that was the (Leela) sport of the Lord, Sati wanted to test it out for herself. So Sati impersonated Seeta and planted herself near Shri Rama. The latter addressed her as `Ma' Sati had not managed to deceive the Lord Shri Rama. When ShivA asked Sati about her whereabouts, she lied to him. It is said that Shivai , when he learnt that she had impersonated Ma Seeta, Could not accept her as HIS mate. ShivA had nothing against the fact that she doubted or that she questioned. He was against her impersonation. The above is one of the reasons why Sati had to return as Parvati in her next incarnation. As Parvati, she again showed a desire to learn about the feats and greatness Of Shri RamA. ShivA, this time round was happy to comply with Parvati's Divine Desire. That is how the Great Narration of the Ramayan began. ********************************************************************** HARSHA, NOW THERE ARE SEVERAL THREADS OF DISCUSSION GOING ON HERE. 1) please read nora's wonderful posts on this story. 2) also read collin's version from the kalika purana and my version based on shiva purana. 3) our beloved member vanathan (rather his daughter) is asking the question how can shiva carry the corpse of sati on his shoulders when it is stated that sati nurned herself in sacrifical fire (yagna) of daksha. harsha, please tell us the implications of this story. is it to demonstrate 'sati's stree dharma? or is it to vanquish daksha's ahamkara. or is to pave thw way for sat's incarnation as parvati? or is it to prove to sati the love of a spouse for his beloved. (like rama's love for seetha) or all of the above or something 'esoteric 'altogether? please quote scriptures wherever possible. ********************************************************************** om shree lalithambikayaii namaha!
