Guest guest
In my native bengal, pujo will be on the 17th of this month;Devis pujo is always associated with offerings of books as she is known primarily as the goddess of learning.Yes dear adi you are right we wear yellow sarees or dress, which sometimes instead of buying readymade is done at home by steeping the brand new white clothing in a bucket of yellow coloring made from the stem of "shiuli" flowers whuch grows in abundance at this time of the year. Students are very srtict and punctual in following the rituals for obvious reason. Also normally the school subjects that the students are poor in they offer books of those subjects so that devis blessing will help them do better. We fast till pujo is done and prasad is offered. Also this day is the first day we can eat "kuul" a type of fruit, which was like a forbidden fruit till this time;although it starts to grow from the onset of winter. After the pujo bhog is offered in form of "khichuri",everything is ofcourse vegeterian. The next day is known as "shetol Shosti",when we have to eat everything cold. "kajjolo purito lochono bhare tabojugo shobhito pushpa hare bina ronjito pustoko haste bhagaboti bharoti devi namaste" love Chumki.
