Guest guest
Dear baba: Thanks for your note. You know, Adi got very upset with me for my post, which she took as disparaging Swami Satyananda's work. She pointed out that she -- and you too -- were great admirers of the swami, and I do apologize if my assessment of his translation came off as unduly critical. Obviously, that was not my intention. What I had hoped to convey was that there were several translations out there, but no "right" one for everybody -- the only reliable test is what a given version does for your sadhana. I personally found Chandi Path confusing and difficult, and Coburn clear and inspiring -- but that's my particular mindset. For someone else, Coburn's take may be the absolute pits, and Satyananda's a key the opens new doors into the totality that is Devi. As for the bottom line, I couldn't state any clearer than you already have: "The more versions you read the better you are able to understand."
