Guest guest
adi_sakthi! I am also quoting from one of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa's parables. I am trying to recall from memory, so those who know this story, please excuse me if it is not exactly as per the original. There was a student who wanted to see god. He went to several scholars well versed in the scriptures, and asked them whether they have seen god. Whenever any of them replied in the affirmative, the student immediately used to ask - In that case, can you show me god? He would not get any response for that. One day, this student chanced upon a wandering mendicant, and posed the question to him. The mendicant told yes, he has seen god.... and yes, I can show you god!!! The student was thrilled. The mendicant took him to a nearby pond, and both of them got into the water to take a dip. However, when the student took a dip, the mendicant caught hold of his neck firmly, thereby not allowing him to come out of the water. After a few minutes, the mendicant released him. The student was breathless for some time. The mendicant only smiled and asked - what did you think of when your head was inside the water? The student replied "I longed for air. I could not think of anything else". To this, the mendicant said "if you long for god the way you longed for air, you will see him". No amount of scriptural knowledge will do. The longing should be there. Otherwise there can be no realization. Hari Om Narayanan ===== Thanks and Best Regards Narayanan.K.G.
