one of our beloved members had asked in one of the posts what does

this phrase mean- *om parashakthaye mean*

here is my 2 cents...

para shakti literally means one supreme cosmic energy-

para literally translated means- supreme

shakti means cosmic energy

parashakti means the dynamic frminine counterpart of the immobile

massculine parama shiva...

she is the 'luminous' female -

parashakti is the 'mother of all mothers.' she combines in her own

universal form the attributes of all devis (goddesses) put together!

so, if you worship para shakti, you are worshippinh kali and the ten

maha vidyas, durga in all her incarnations, lakshmi , sarswati etc

etc....

there is a beautiful song dedicated to parashakti ; here is the

english translation...

How can I describe, your greatness while on this earth?

O one whose gait is akin to that of the elephant in majesty,

Dharmasamvardhani, your mystique is not comprehended by even the

Gods. O Shambhavi(consort of Shambhu), your greatness is truly an

object of wonder.

O lotus eyed one, there are very few on this earth, who are blessed

with the fortune to meditate on you. O Saramati(essence of all

creation), show mercy on me, by just bestowing a glance on me, for

you are my only refuge. You are the very source of all activity in

this universe and you are forever steeped in bliss.

O mother, o compassionate one, beloved of Siva, please listen, by

chanting Om and by speaking of your glory, people attain salvation.

Come now and save all the people who are steeped in worldiness. Your

feet are decorated with the gems that fell out of the crowns of kings

and emperors, when they prostrated before you.

O one who enticed the very enemy of Love(Kama), O one of great

tradition, O ever smiling one, you are full of compassion. Syama

Krishna is always meditating on you. Residing on the banks of the

river Kaveri, you are Haimavati,(the daughter of Himavan). You are

worshipped by Panchapakesa Muni (Siva) in the form of Uma, for you

are the source of all energy.

para shakti as this hymn says is the source of all energy!!!!

om parashakthaye namaha!!!

salutations to the divine cosmic ,other who is the supreme source of

all energy!

hope this helps!!!

members are welcome to add, subtract, divide and multiply to this

explanation...
