Guest guest
adi_shakthi16 There are twenty three siddhis in all which have been graded into three classes; Great, Medium and Small. The great siddhis are eight in number and are very difficult to acquire. Only he who is established in the Self, who has lost all consciousness of his body and of the sense of "I" and "mine", such a one can acquire them. The Medium siddhis are ten in number and a seeker with divine qualities and who is pure at heart gets them. The small siddhis are five and he whose heart is purified through devotion or yoga can acquire them. The Great siddhis are as follows: 1. Anima: the reduction of one's form to an atom, assuming the subtle and invisible state. 2. Mahima or garima: to make the body weighty or heavy. 3. Laghima: to make the body excessively light and beyond what is natural. 4. Prapti: to acquire objects of sense pertaining to the respective organs. 5. Praakaashya: to see and know invisible things in the other worlds. 6. Ishitaa: to stimulate bodies and creatures; to have control over natural forces. 7. Vashitaa: to have supremacy over the senses. 8. Yatkaamastadavasyati: literally, the power to obtain joys in the three worlds effortlessly, by mere willing. However, this power leads to the state of the highest bliss through ending of all desires. The Medium siddhis are as follows: 1. Anoomimattvam: The six modifications of being (oormis), namely, hunger, thirst, grief or sorrow (soka), infatuation (stepefaction), delusion/confusion of mind (moha), old age and death do not disagree with and effect injuriously, the body. 2. Doorshravan: to hear, sitting at one place, speech from however distant a place. 3. Doordarshan: to see, sitting at one place, events and things in all the three worlds. 4. Manojava: the body travels at the speed of mind to any place one desires. 5. Kaamaroopa: to assume at once any form one desires 6. Parakaayapravesh: to enter into another's body, dead or alive, temporarily leaving one's own body. 7. Swachchandamrutyu: to die at one's own will, death having no control over one. 8. Sahakridanudarshanam: to see the sports of gods in heaven and have capacity and prowess to participate in it. 9. Yathaasamkalpa samsiddhi: to attain whatever is desired. 10. Ajnaapratihataagatih: whereby one's command and movement have no obstruction. The Small siddhis are as follows: 1. Trikaalajriatvam: the knowledge of the past, present and future. 2. Advandvam: to be beyond the control of the quality of pleasure-pain, cold-heat, soft-very hard. 3. Parachittaadyabhijnataa: to tell about another's dream or to know his mind. 4. Pratishtambah: to stop the effect of fire, wind, water, weapon, poison and the sun. 5. Aparaajayah: not being defeated by anybody; being victorious everywhere. gUYS, NOW TELL ME is the purpose of tantra or any other sadhna is the attainment of siddhis or spiritual upliftment -that is to realize the divinity within? Do we all want to be like Hanuman who had such great siddhis - mahima -where he could make his body excessively heavy or laghima -where hanuman made his body excessively light? is the ultimate purpose of tantra is to acquire siddhis? 1) to attract the opposite gender - to what avail? one can go to a great plastic surgeon for that and look like million dollars!!!! lol!!! 2) or to acquire siddhis to punish one's enemies- but the *** enemies*** are not hiding in the caves of afghanistan , these enemies are hiding right in the cave of one's heart- lust, ego, pride, arrogance, greed, anger etc etc.. why do i want to know my future ? i already know my past! unless, one wants to use these siddhis to make money or use it for commercial purposes. Jyotish sastra is a very sacred science and if used for commercial purposes, it is unethical ! where were all these jyotish gurus when the sept 11 attacks took place? how come they could not predict this great tragedy or prevent it? OUR SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA WAS A GREAT TANTRIK but he never used his siddhis to 'hurt' anyone. His whole mission in life was to help his disciples spread the word of 'divinity' and help the 'poor and the oppressed' ! to me, the mother goddess is 'pleasing' and 'endearing' in all her aspect- 'ugra' or 'sowmya' ! i do not see her as a punishing goddess or a rewarding goddess - rather i see our divine mother as one who 'protects' us and helps us to swim across the ocean of samsara- of repeated births and deaths!
