what does the 'devi' represent ? many people think that worshipping

devi means one is worshipping a female form of divinity - in a way,

this is true but one has to move beyond the outwrd form of the

devi... the divine mother is not just a deity in a 'female' form- she

is this and much more ... she is the vey embodiment of all qualities -

both masculine and feminine - the 'anima and animus' in jungian

terms...

as parvati she is all female "'beautiful and alluring" '

as kali she is all macho "strong and belligerent , assertive and

independent"

our beloved collin has endowed this forum with a great sounding

phrase 'the motherhood of god' and it is this very 'motherhood of

god' tha shri ramakrishna was talking about when he used to sing the

glories of the divine mother kali!!! to shri ramakrishna , every

woman was a 'mother' figure - and by 'mother' he meant somebody who

had all the qualities of an earth mother.... "nurturing, nourishing,

merciful, compassionate, kind-hearted, protective , caring, giving

etc...

guys and gals, worshipping the deity in the divine feminine is not

about feminism - please- this is taking a very 'limited'

and 'distorted; view of shaktism ! the divine mother is beyond all

this limited confinnes of gender and sexuality!!!! she is not an

object of ***passion*** but the very embodiment of*** compassion ***

here, i would like to reproduce our beloved bodhiavasa's post...

There are ladies and there are Mas

The ladies are attracted to a goddess or many goddess's but a Ma is

not interested in those aspects. There comes a time when the female

form has felt and seen all the aspects, that are projected outwardly,

and knows them to be within herself and the futility of pretending

that the Goddess lies outside of herself is recognised, She

intergrates all the aspects within herself and finds no other than

herself in their midst.

She may continue as before chanting the goddess's names and the like

but she is praising the woman within, the One that she now knows to

be none other than herself.

The lady looks outward in expectation, the Ma rests as what the other

seeks!

The next and last step is when all identification with being a female

dissolves!

Big hug Avasa

so, let us join together in praising the god/ess that is within -the

shiva-shakti within the lotus of our heart !

the devine feminine is just that -DEVINE AND FEMININE!!!!
