Hi Kochu!

Thanks for asking. I am here, and alive! But too often lurking rather

than participating these days. I've got myself involved (and am still

chin deep) in some rather heavy legal paper; you mention being a

lawyer, so I'll toss out two concepts -- closed-head brain trauma and

voir dire -- give you an idea of just *how* deep. :-0 But no excuses -

- I should be posting more often.

Nonetheless, I will be rising in the wee hours tomorrow morning to

begin observances for Vasant Navratri [see Message #930, and follow-

ups]. Wondering if any you or any other members would care to share

the way you'll be observing it. Over in the always excellent Ambaal

Group, there's been some discussion of the Four Navratris celebrated

by Shaktas each year.

Obviously, the autumn Navratri -- the famous Durga Pooja -- is the

best known. The Vasant (Spring) Navratri is a much quieter affair --

it seems that some devotees focus on Lalitha rather than Durga during

this festival, chanting Sri Lalita Sahasranama rather than Devi

Mahatmyam. As for the other two Navratris -- I know almost nothing.

They apparently occur during the bright halves of the lunar months

coinciding with the Summer and Winter Solstices. Nora believes the

Summer Navratri is more closely associatated with Lalitha and also

with Varahi. Can anyone clarify on this?

In any event, thanks again, Kochu, for checking up on me. And Happy

Navratri!
