our beloved devi bhakta has posed a very nice question- "how can

vasant navratri be celebrated'" - well, the first three days are

devoted to the worship of maa durga (kali), the next three days are

in honor of sree mahalaxmi and the last three days are dedicated to

goddess saraswati...

fasting is observed on all nine days and in the evening , fast is

broken by eating fruits, sweet pudding- meat, garlic, onion and

other 'tamasic' food is avoided... it is also customary to invite

seven young girls (bewteen the ages of seven to 13) and serve them

halwah, poori and vegetables or give them fruits and nuts... one can

also donate clothes to them. one can worship the goddess in the

privacy of one's home or participate in congregational chanting.

the 'devi mahatmiyam ' can be chanted -alternatively, sree lalita

sahasaranama can be recited ... for those of you who are interested

please log in www. musicindia. com for a kive rendering of these!!!

om sree durgayaii namaha!!!
