dear nora,

this post was in response to a rquest by penkatali - it was

originally in tamil script and i tried putting it in english script

but i am not real happy wit the outcome- it may have lot of errors in

it- it was meant strictly for penkatali's use...

abyway, without a translation accompanying it it may not be

meaningful.

kochu sankara, if you have a better version of this along with the

translation , would you kindly post it, please?

i hope durga mata will forgive my errors in this presentation!!!!

jai durge!!!

dearest chumki, you are never catty and never disrespectful -

this hymn was composed by kanch koti swamigal and was specially sung

by m.s.subbalaxmi in her melodious voice...

in the old shakti sadhana club, penkatali had requested a copy of the

lyrics - i searched the net for the lyrics - i could not find it -

then one of my friends sent me a copy of thi lyrics in tamil mylai

font and i copied it in english and posted it....

normally when i post something i would like to post a translatuion

alongside all of us can understand...

this is a beautiful hymn - you can listen to it on musicindia.com.

all it basically is singing the glories of durga mata and call

her "MOKSHA-DATRI" means one who liberates!!!!

sorry dear one!!!

AS:

Thank you and will do.*smile*

By the way when one is a sadhaka on the Shakti Marga,

one need not be self effacing depricative of oneself.

How can you be? Then you are deprecating Maa for you

are verily Maa herself. Maa manifests herself at

various levels as part of her play. Nevertheless we

are all fully part of Maa so lets not humble ourselves

before others or even in one's own eyes. If one has

some quality it is because Maa wants that part of her

to have that. If someone sings Maa wants him/her to

show Maa's musical qualities. if someone paints it

again is a quality of Maa. So lets not depricate

ourselves under any circumstances because then we are

deprecating Maa

thanks you kochu-sankara !I am a 'maa' all right!!! my kids think i

am the best!!! and my grandson he thinks the world of me-the feeling

is mutual!!! smiles!!!!

hey kochu, today is sri rama-navami! i made nice masala vadai, paal

payasam and panagam - if you were near by i would hve sent them to

you - last two weeks , i did not make any sweet dishes because of the

bereavement in the family- i did sree lalita sahasaranama parayanam

only for vasant nvaratri. today,, for the forst time i will be going

to the temple after so many days... in the morning, they had seetha-

kalyanam in the temple.

i just listened to m.s. subbalaxmi rendering of gandhiji's favorite

bhajan vaishnava hana to! it describes what true vaishnava humility

is...

here it is in english...

Vaishnava Jana to !

Speak only of him as godlike the man who feels another's pain

Who shares another's sorrow and pride does disdain

Who regards himself lowliest of the low

Speaks not a word of evil against any one

Blessed is the mother who gave birth to such a son

Who looks upon everyone as his equal,

lust he has renounced

Who honours women like he honours his mother

Whose tongue knows not the taste of falsehood

Nor covets another's wordly goods

Who longs not for worldly wealth (or fame)

For he treads the path of renunciation

Ever on his lips is Rama's holy name

All places of pilgrimage are within him

He has coonquered greed, is free of deceit, lust and anger

Through him Narsinh has godly vision And his generation to come will

attain salvation

SHRI RAM JAI RAM! jai ram! sita ram!!!!

the composer of this poem is narasingh mehta - his name is mentioned

in the last line of the poem.

enjoy and god bless!!!

Hey. Thanx a lot for the vadai and palpaayasam and all

that.

By the way why did u stop the paarayana ? because of

the bereavement pollution?

Thats not proper!! For a Maa upaasaka there is no

pollution. His Upaasana comes first. Whether it is

death or birth or monthly periods there is no

pollution!! I did my regular pooja even on the day my

father died and his body was in the house.
