Guest guest
Some information on Kollur Mookambike http://www.mangalore.com/documents/kollur.html http://www.udupipages.com/temple/kollur.html http://www.templenet.com/Karnataka/kollur.html http://www.ourkarnataka.com/states/mangalore/kollur.htm http://www.udupi.8k.com/kollur.html About 135 Kms from Mangalore, Kollur has the famous Mookambika Temple at the foot of the Western Ghats. This attractive Mookambika temple with gold plated crest and copper roofs attracts thousands of devotees. This is a well known temple in Kundapur taluq of Karnataka visited by pilgrims from all over India. Kollur is one of the seven pilgrimages which werecreated by Parashurama. It is is situated at the banks of the never drying river Sauparnika. While the other pilgrimages created by Parashurama are devoted to Lord Shiva, Lord Subramanya and Lord Ganesha, this is the only one devoted to goddess Parvathi. It is a belief that an eagle (Garuda) called Suparna performed penance on the banks of the river and attained salvation hence the name Sauparnika. It is a pleasant experience to take a dip in the holy river and then head for the darshan of the goddess. The main statue in the temple is the Shiva linga called the Jyothirlingam. This Jyotirlingam in front of the image of the Goddess Mookambika is of great antiquity. A golden line divides this lingam into two unequal parts and is visible only in the light of reflected sunlight pointed at the lingam. The right portion of this lingam is said to represent Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - as the conscious static principles and the larger left part Lakshmi, Saraswathi and Parvathi - the creative energy principles. It is a belief that the three goddess Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Parvathi and the three lords Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara emerged out of it. Adi Sankara the great religious leader is said to have installed the metal image of the Goddess behind the lingam. Adi Sankara is said to have spontaneously composed the classic work Soundarya Lahiri here. The idol that was installed by Adi Shankara is confined in a copper roofed and gold crested temples. There are couple of places worth visiting in the vicinity of the temple. One of them is Arasina Makki, a famous waterfall. The Kutachadri range is a beautiful place and attracts a large number of mountaineers and trekkers. Kollur is well connected to Mangalore, Bangalore and Mysore. Regular buses ply from Udupi. Guest guest
Greetings M. Ganesan Ravi Thank you for your enquiries. With regards to the Moola Mantra for Mookambika, see message 2847, courtesy of our beloved member Yoga Man @childofDevi As for Mooambika stotras : theres two file on Mooambika in the file section of the group : Sri Mukambika 108 and Sri Mukambika Sahasranama Stotra. Look for Sanskrit Hyms file. Theres several other slokas in there. Another I remember you asked me once about Sri Nageshwari Devi Mantras. The following is my conversation with our beloved member Kalika Putra. N : Sometime last week, we features Sri Nageshwari Devi as our Goddess of the week, and somebody ask weather do we know the Mantras for Nageshwari Devi. Do you know any? K. P : I hear yakshini mantras are related to her some how. N : I did asked a priest who was managing the Sri Nageshwari Devi temple here in KL and he told me that Mahamariamman Mantras is the same as the Nagheswari Devi Mantras. He just change the name from Mariamman to Nagheswari. Can one do that? K. P : She is a very powerful goddess and I would strongly adivce you stick to simple worship when calling her. She is called upon to cure disease but her tantra envolves the killing of people In fiji she is a diety invoked in occult. Well I went back to the Nageshwari Temple and asked the priest, and he told me the same thing. Said it is a very powerful mantra and only when you are initiated and with a Guru, then they can impart this Mantra. Oh! Well. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Also one more thing Nora, this is an experience that i wish to share with you people. Im an ardent devotee of Nageswari Amman at Sri Vadapatirakaliamman temple at Singapore. When i was feeling down once i consulted the temple priest about it. He advised me to offer prayers to Nageswari Amman by fasting for 9 fridays and offerings of Milk and Eggs for her ( also MaaVilakuPrasadam). Whether you guys wanna believe it, my prayers was exactly answered on the 9th Friday. Truly she is a Kaan Kanda Deivam. Mobile - Get cool ringtones and name logos for your phone!
