Guest guest
adi_shakthi16 Once sri mahavishnu was resting in his abode VAIKUNTA (so called because there is no anxiety in vaikunta-it is full of bliss)! seated at his lotus feet were his divine consorts SRI DEVI (GODDESS OF WEALTH) and BHU DEVI (MOTHER EARTH). Both very much in love with their divine consort sri maha vishnu! Now, in comes vishnu bhakta Narada! you know, narada views this blissful scene of the two Devis serving the lotus feet of their lord and master, maha vishnu! by now, you all know about narada- he loves to create trouble- a great politician ! So narada goes to sri devi and says - "O SREE MATA, ask your sriman narayana who is dearer to him , you or bhu devi?" And he repeats the same question to Bhu devi - "O sree bhu devi, find out from your lord who is dearer you or sree devi?" This was a real dilemma for the lord. but being a great diplomat, lord vishnu decided to settle the issue in an amicable manner! He asks both the goddesses to sit on the two sides of a weighing scale (a balance). The pan holding Bhoomidevi is said to have gone down and the one holding sree devi went up. Thus the problem was resolved, but not to the satisfaction of SREE DEVI! So lAKSHMI left Vaikuntam, went to Indra kshetram and did severe penance in order to prove her supremacy. In the course of time, God appeared before Her and convinced Her saying that as He is having Lakshmi on His chest all the time, She is superior to Bhoodevi ! THAT IS WHY MAHA VISHNU IS CALLED SREENIVASA AS LAKSHMI RESIDES IN HIS CHEST ALL THE TIME! let us pray to lakshmi devi Siddhi Buddhi prade Devi Bhukti Mukhti pradayini; Mantra moorte sada Devi Mahalakshmi namo astute . O Devi, giver of intelligence and success, of worldly enjoyment and liberation from them as well, you have the mystic Symbols as your form (Mantra moorty). I bow to thee. let us also pray to bhoodevi , the mother earth! BHOODEVI: Visnu patnim mahim Devim Madhavim Madhava priyam; Lakshmi priya sakhim Devim namamyachyta vallabham. O mother Earth, consort of Lord Visnu who resembles the Madhavi creeper *, the beloved of Madhava, the dear friend of Mahalakshmi, the One who is near and dear to Achyuta, I offer my salutations to you. * Madhavi creeper is similar to Lavender, with similar brilliant white and fragrant flowers. ONCE AGAIN, all forms of devi are worshippable! love and infinite love!
