Guest guest
Welcome to the Group Santosh; we look forward to your participation! *** This group look nice *** Thank you! It *is* pretty nice, in fact, thanks to the active and sincere participation of so many kind and knowledgeable members. We do have rules, however, and one of them is that we do not accept posts that insult or might embarrass another member by name. Please respect that in the future, so that your posts will not be deleted! On to your questions: *** Who is the moderator of this group? *** Nora55_1999 and myself are the moderators, as is noted on the "Members" page. *** Is this a Shakta group? *** Yes, it is, as the front page explains in detail. *** Don't we have the freedom of choice on what we choose to belief in? If I keep on having somebody to tell me all the time what I should belief then I don't want to be in this group. *** There are no "lecturers" in this group, and our members represent many approaches to Shakta, including a few Goddess devotees who are not specifically Hindu, and several Hindus who are not specifically Shaktas. The result is a lively and cordial exchange of ideas, in which everyone is welcome to her or his own opinion. Obviously, not everyone will agree with every post. And obviously, some members will post much more often, while others post less frequently -- or not at all, choosing to read posts, and enjoy the club's photo galleries and resource lists without actively chiming in with their viewpoints and comments. We have no rules about how many or how few posts-per-member is acceptable. Everyone may write as much or as little as they please. And nobody will "tell you what to believe," they might disagree or challenge your assumptions, or force you to think hard about what you believe and why you believe it. That is one of the great things about any Group, and one of the reasons that this one is such an excellent way to learn more about the Shakta faith and path. I hope you will find this approach reasionable and fair, and that you will stay with us for a long time and share your thoughts, experience and wisdom freely! Again, welcome aboard! Guest guest
thanks db for a very tactful and diplomatic response to this one day retreating member menoon2000's santosh or whoever) response. yes , you said it right - a shakta is a bhakta and a bhakta may also be a shakta or may belong to some other faith. in any case, in order to respect DEVI, we need to respect her consort as well and the other way around. there is no radha without krishna , no lakshmi without vishnu and no shakti without shiva, they are inseperable like moon and moonlight and sun and sunlight and a flower and its fragrance. this is my belief and will always be. we all know the story of how sati felt insulted by her father daksha when daksha did not invite lord shiva to the yagna... there is no shakti apart from shaktiman!!! thanx once again for your hospitality but i am going to 'chill out for a while!!! love -- In , Devi bhakta <devi_bhakta> wrote: > Welcome to the Group Santosh; we look forward to your > participation! > > *** This group look nice *** > > Thank you! I do not know who the moderator is and I do not care. we are here to exchange notes that is all that matters. 2. This is a shaktha group 3. Yes Adi_shakthi posts a lot and we all enjoy her posts. As far as i can see she is not imposing her ideas on any one. any one can post within limits of decency and on the subject. Guest guest
thanks sankar for your kind words. do not worry, these are 'wake up calls' - from time to time - the divine mother wakes us up from our complacence. if it were not for this post, would devi bhakta made such a great 'mission' statement - reiterating what the focus of all this group is really about ? in a sendse, the group was drifting towards advaita !!!!. i enjoy your posts too,. they are a real blessing. love -- In , sankara menon <kochu1tz> wrote: > Dear santhosh: > There are a lot of members in the group. > May i answer your questions? > I do not know who the moderator is and I do not care. > we are here to exchange notes that is all that > matters. > 2. Guest guest
no, sweetheart! remember, nothing can move except by the divine will of the divine mother! MAA WAS TESTING US ALL ! she just wanted us to drift a little bit so that she can help us raech the shore with her divine intervention in the form of 'santosh' Smiles!!! anyway, sesh- be serious now!! tell me was Adi shankara an advaitain? did he or did he not compose the 'Saundarya lahari'? so, what is the great treatise all about ? Saundarya lahari -deals with the divine mothe worship- in all its aspects... if you read the first 41 mantras, YOU WILL SEE THE VARIOUS MANTRAS AND YANTRAS OF THE DIVINE MOTHER. there is also a description of sri chakra worship- the ultimate in sri vidya upasana . THE 100 verses of this beautiful hymn pays tribute to mother in all her manifestations from visalakshi in kasi to kamakshi in kanchi. It is believed the divine mother herself manifested on the tongue of adi shankara and our great advaita acharya was just an instrument in mother's hands. in this book, you will find the 'manasik' or internal worship of devi. you will also find a great description of devi's physical beauty, charm and transcendence. he also calls devi as bhuvenehwari, the empress of the universe. she is also worshippeed in her form as lalita tripura sundari. there is also a description of how 'kundalini' can be awakened. so, anyone who has written such a great book could be nothing but a great DEVI BHAKTA... so, please PLEASE - there is very thin border line between different sects... take me for instance, am i shakta? strictly speaking . no..but yes as well .. am i a shaivite, yes and no. ami i vaishnavite- partkly yes and partly no. BUT, I AM A BHAKTin A and A BHAKTIN is beyond all such labels.... that is the way of a rasika-bhaktin!!! if pnkatali were here today, he would agree with me- for one who has seen the face of the beloved, does it matter where the moonlight falls on the pond or in the ocean!! we are the drop, god/ess is the ocean!!! you are o., i am o.k we all are ok. have you read transaction analysis- that is waht spirituality is all about, sweetheart!! love and more love
Guest guest
Maa, Do you think I would diffrentiate Shathi Saadhana, Tantra or Dwaitha ? To me they are all leading to the same source. When the time comes, a bhaktha will be filled with daiva ananda and if the person wants to will know everything a gnani on the verge of mukthi knows. They are all the same to me and I was trying todrive the discussion in that direction all the while. Apologies if I confused you in the meanwhile There is a beautiful story of Shankara going to Srinagar and getting a beattiful shiksha(education) from the mother herself who enlightene shankara that Shakthi herself is brahman. Which is why in my last post, I made it very clear that to me it does not matter at all. Like all rivers reaching the ocean, the same ocean, all prayers readch the same lord. :-) Regards, Seshadri. .. - adi_shakthi16 Tuesday, April 30, 2002 3:48 PM Re: Hello no, sweetheart! remember, nothing can move except by the divine will of the divine mother! Guest guest
welcome aboard, bendis... Yes, shakti Sahnana (goddess worship) is for one and all regardless of whether one is a hndu or not... I am sure when nora, our moderator, logs in , will be dlighted to read your words... i liked the way you took up for the 'moderator' in your earlier post... a moderator's job isnot by any means easy specially in these days of ' glitches' but our nora does her best under aqll circumstances... on another note, in hinduism , also, we consider trees very sacred... The Ashwatta (banyan/fig) tree is considered to be very sacred and worshipped as the abode of the trimurthis reside as the following sloka states: Moolatho Brahma Roopaya, Madhyato Vishnu Roopini, Agratas Shiv Roopaya, Vriksha Rajayte Namaha Brahma shaped at the root, Vishnu shaped in the middle and Shiva shaped at the top, we salute you, the king of all trees. please write here about the goddess tradition you follow and the symbolism of trees in your tradition, thanx , "Bendis" <bendis@s...> wrote: > First of all, I wish to thank the person who kindly invited me to your list - I appreciate even though I am ignorant as to who it might be! I am not Hindi nor do I practice Hindu religion - rather am a priestess of the Goddess, trained to HP in four traditions, but practising something of a personal path formed loosely around my training and heavily on personal experience.
