Thanks, Adi, for finding and posting the Devi Gita's position on this

issue. Obviously, I can add nothing; let Her speak for Herself. But I

will repeat it, for emphasis:

"The Devi said: 'This whole universe, moving and unmoving is created

by My maya shakti. This maya is conceived in Me. It is not, in

reality, different or separate from Me. So I am the only Chit

[supreme Consciousness; Shiva], Intelligence.

"There is no other Intelligence other than Me. Viewed practically, it

is known variously as Maya, avidya; but viewed from the point of

Brahman, there is no such thing as Maya. Only one Brahman exists, I

am that Brahma, of the nature of Intelligence. I create this whole

world on this Unchangeable eternal Brahma and enter first as Prana

within it in the form of chidabhasa. ...

"As the sun rays are never defiled when they illumine various objects

on earth, so too, I am not defiled in entering thus into various high

and low antahkaranas. The ignorant people attach buddhi and other

things of activity on Me and say that the Atman is the doer. The

intelligent people do not say that. I remain as the Witness in the

hearts of all men, not as the Doer."

The key to all Sadhana is to perform it while remaining as the

Witness not as the Doer. One must practice the Sadhana with

genuine and profound humility.

In my classes, I use the models of being a passenger rather

than the driver and of watching your inner and outer life as if it

were a movie and you were an actor in that drama that is your

life.

This is precisely what I am doing right now. Frankly im really

enjoying it, and learning so much just from these exchanges. My wish

is to be able to participate in this exchanges, but my instinct tells

me that its best to listen and observe, for listening is often the

hardest thing to do. And i believe listening itself is another form

of Sadhana ( as far as Im concern ) Sitting here and watching the

exchanges between you, Devi_bhakta, Yeshe and Adi Ma, its like

watching the court room drama. Sometime I just smile, occasionally I

laugh but on the whole, I am having this impression that I am

watching Maya in Action. Me sitting in the public arena and taking

note on all the exchanges and reminding myself " I must look into

this and read on them in detail". And I thank you for this. My hats

off for you.

Just a little story to share :

There was a swami who was considered to be a great adept, an

accomplished one. His discipline went to him and said, "sir, tell us

something about the Ultimate Reality, or God". And he wouldn't say

anything. He would smile but wouldn't say anything. He wouldn't reply

anything. They became frustrated.

They said, "Sir, we have been constantly requesting you to tell us

something about God, and you are simply smiling; you are not telling

us anything"

You know what he said? He said, " Ive been replying to you, but you

are not listening to me"

And they said, "But you did not say a word!"

He said,"the best of the teachings are given in silence, so I am

silently telling you."

So they said, "But we don't have the ear to hear. What did you tell,

sir?"

He said, "God is silence"

A close friend good enough to read this post of mine and remarked :

Are you asking omprem to be silence. Please, please dont get me

wrong. That is not what I mean. I was reading this Book By Swami Rama

entittled : Sadhana. The Essence of Spiritual Life. The book is the

gathering together of those lecturers, notes and letters written to

aspiring students. The story abt the Swami and his student in search

of the Ultimate Reality came into my mind, and I just wanted to share

it with everybody.

He is the founder of the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga

Science and Philosophym and the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust

and Medical College, located at jolly Grant, Dehradun.

I sincerely hope that you and others do not see this exchange of

views as part of an adversarial courtroom drama model.

The aware reader should see that this exchange as an attempt

to accomplish precisely the opposite. It is a process of breaking

down stereotypes, gaining understanding of another's viewpoint

and path, and, finally, arriving at the conclusion that while paths

are many, Truth is One. Regardless of how spiritual insights and

ideas are expressed, they are all describing the same Ultimate

Reality, the same relationship between the individual and the

Ultimate Reality and employ the same underlying methodology

of realizing the Ultimate Reality; i.e. "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT

I AM GOD", "AHAM BRAHMASMI - I AM THE CREATOR", "I AND

MY FATHER ARE ONE", "I AND MY MOTHER ARE ONE",

I trust that your smiles and laughter are in joyful recognition of

this affirming process.

I am aware of and highly value Swami Rama's thought. His

teachings have informed many of my ideas and the content of my

various classes.

I might add that an inner silence does not preclude verbal or

print communication. That inner silence certainly did not prevent

Swami Rami, Swami Sivananda, my own Guru or any of the

enlightened masters from communicating with the world at

large. In fact, it is because of that inner silence that these

masters felt drawn to communicate with the world at large about

that same silence and to suggest techniques for developing that

inner silence. Mouna is but one of those techniques.

My own Guru tells us to 'Dive inside. Hear the Silence. Taste the

Silence. Feel the Silence. Be the Silence.'

To me this drama do not have a judgement as who is innocent and who

is guilty. But what im seeing is an intelligent exchanges of opinion

and ideas. And i am learning from all these.
