thanks dearest sesh for posting 'laksmi vratas' ...

whenever one prays to lord vishnu, one should pray thus... specially

newly married couple...

" O lord! just as never remain apart from your consort, similarly let

the case be with me and just as your abode is never berefit of MOTHER

(lakshmi), so let my life never be devoid of my consort."

such a prayer guarantees long life to the husband and 'sowbhagyam' to

the wife!!

in sree sthuti (a hymn dedicated to the gories of divine mother sree

lakshmi), shri vedanta desikar emphasises the concept of divya-

dampati (the divine couple shriman narayana and srimati narayani)

"Shri vishnu and sree lakshmi as a dvandvam (couple) are the

ultimate Tattva or Reality, the most potent Upaaya or Means, and the

Goal, or Purushartha, to be attained. Thus Divya-Dampati is the

Tattva; Saranya-Dampati is the Hita; and Seshi-Dampati is the

Purushartha"

neither Narayana by Himself, nor Lakshmi by Herself, is to be sought

after, but the two of them together (yuvAm dampatI nah daivatam).

so, it is not that sree lakshmi is superior or shri vishnu is

superior but together they are both worshippable as the divine

couple! that is why the lord has lakshmi in his heart so that we

devotees worship them together!

also, there is something very beautiful about worshipping the lord's

lotus feet for the lord's feet are like lotus petals and laksmi

devi's hands that massage these feet are like a lotus flower - only

a 'rasika -bhakta' can enjoy these sublime truths!! they cannot be

explainced by intellect or reasoning!!

THe feet that danced on the heads of serpent kalinga , are they not

worshippable? (krishna)

the feet that touched ahalya's dstone image and relieved of her

curse, are they not worshippable? (lord rama)

so on and so forth....

enjoy the bliss of divine ecstasy !!!

love
