Guest guest
Namaskar Yeshe_O: *** Could you recommend an author and ISBN number for [Devi Bhagavata Purana]? Presently I have "The Sri Mad Devi Bhagavatam" translated by Swami Vijnanananda - but wanted to look at a different translation for the text. I am assuming these two titles are the same text? *** Yes, they are the same. The Vijnanananda translation -- a 1,200-page HB -- is the only English version I know of. It's available from Auromere Books & Imports (http://www.auromere.com), and a few other places. I understand why you'd seek another; the translation and print quality could be a bit smoother, but it is accurate and reliable, and is more than sufficient for devotional purposes. Dig in! ;-) The Devi Gita portion of the Purana is available in two other translations: "The Devi Gita: The Song of the Goddess: A Translation, Annotation, and Commentary," by C MacKenzie Brown. It is a good translation and the commentary is amazingly useful and informative. The other translation is "Devi Gita" by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, which I do not personally care for, but which some devotees have described as useful to them. Hope this helps.
