Hello Yeshe,

>I looked up the Skanda Purana and found there were at least

>10 "parts" or books in this Purana. From Which "part" is this story

>found?

I don't have the actual text of the Skanda Purana here with me. What I do

have is the book Hindu Myths by Wendy Doniger O'Flaherty, in which there is

a abridged translation of the story. According to O'Flaherty, it is from

the Skanda Purana part I, section 2, chapters 27, 28 and 29. (She also

mentions nine other texts which contain versions of the story, including

the Devibhagavata Purana.)

Jai Mahakali,

Colin
