Guest guest
hi kirk, this is free forum- let anyone and everyone express their feelings freely. in every group setting, there is diversity - diversity of various kinds- people from different cultural/ethnic backgrounds, people from different faiths, people with different levels of education or understanding - so on and so forth... Groups are made of different individuals with different temperaments - we do not know the emotional make up of each individual- we do need to take into consideration the opinions from all members of the group tand that is why polls are conducted- that is why participation in polls are important- if you want to have a real 'say' in the dymanics of the day to day functioning of the group... these opinions may take the form of 'fears, defenses, fantasies, projections etc." we have some members who do not even express any opinion ; there are others who threaten to leave or flee; and some others who are passive and just follow the majority. so, kirk- let us sit back and relax!!! moving on, since you like to learn from upanishads, here is a favorite verse of mine from isha upanishds... in fact, Mahatma gandhi said " in fact, If all the Upanishads and all the other Scriptures happened all of a sudden to be reduced to ashes, and if only the first verse in the Ishopanishad were left in the memory of the Hindus, Hinduism would live forever" here is the ...... the first verse of Isha Upanishad IshAvAsyam idam sarvam yat kinca jagatyAm jagat tena tyaktena bhunjIthA mA gRidhah kasya svid dhanam Meaning of this verse "Everything animate or inanimate that is within the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord. One should therefore accept only those things necessary for himself, which are set aside as his quota, and one should not accept other things, knowing well to whom they belong." kirk, enjoy and leave rest to god/ess!!! life is too short to fret and fume over trivial things!!! love

Guest guest
kirk, dear one! of course not! it does not refer to you or anyone in particular..... all i was saying is in a group like this there are members with varying temperaments and different emotional make-ups and where there issuch an assortment of people, there are bound to be conflicts or differences of opinions.... you yourself experienced some 'reaction' not too long ago - specially with reference to your marketing the 'rudraksha' products in groups... some group moderators in some groups came down heavily on you for 'advertizing' - some looked the 'other way.' personally, it did not matter to me ! in a similar fashion trisdale (who rarely posts) expressed an opinion on what the guiding lines for posting should be and made the comment - " stop plagiarism " - i think, he has a point and he is entitled to his opinion.. some materials that are posted here is common knowledge. for example , "kali is black" - BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO ELABORATE ON HER SADHANA, HER ICONOGRAPHY OR OTHER SUCH DETAILS and if you ae going to borrow ideas, facts, theory etc - then it would be kind of nice to acknowledge the sources - this gives 'credibility' to what you are saying and also part of normal etiquette! I used to do some bibiliography work for a research project- there were strict rules and codes on compiling the bibiliography- for example, it is not enough to say this poem is by Ramprasad sen - you need to quote the source from which the poem was taken , who the authors are, who the publisher is , where it was printed and in what year etc.... this applies to graphics, pictures as well... apart from all this, there are copyright violations as well.... but ultimately, in all fairness- as you rightly said-there is lot of inter-dependence... and in reality nothing is 'original' - the day we can say something 'original' we will be a candidate for a nobel prize! kirk, you are too precious ! my gurudeva always told me " overlook the minor irritations" and focus on the main issues... and we are all here to learn something from each other and that's all!!! love and only love,
