As a Moderator of the Group, I can access a page called "Group Activity," which shows, up to the minute, all comings and goings in the Group. It shows eight new memberships in the last week, two address changes by present members, and two member cancellations, one of them re-joining the next day. So we've had a net gain of six members in the past week. And yet, in the past two days, our membership counter has changed from 260 members to 240, about half of them over this past night. The "Group Activity Page", as I said, shows only positive activity. Is this just a glitch or am I missing something? Just curious. Thanks for any ideas ... Guest guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Share Posted May 16, 2002 Just a quick FYI for those of you who may be interested: I've heard back from on what's happening to our membership stats, which have dropped from more than 260 to 225 (last time I checked) in about two days, despite a net gain of (as of this moment) eight new members in the past week. The sordid truth? has begun a ruthless clean-up program. As many of you know, there are lots of people out there who use multiple ID's, or create one for a particular occasion and then abandon it. These IDs take up a lot of storage space over time, and so has begun eliminating "dead" ID's that "bounce" special test e- mails the company has developed to test which accounts are "legitimate." So -- Shakti Sadhana is being cleaned, and (so far) around 40 "members" have turned out to be "bounce" accounts. I can either add them back to the club member roll manually, or they can sign up again themselves. Since I assume that dead and bouncing account holders aren't especially interested in our forum, I intend to leave them be. If they want to re-join, they are welcome.
