Guest guest
Yes in Tantra there is no good or bad; pure and impure; a real sri vidya upaasaka is a " Swechaachaari" one who lives as guided by his own mind. In fact it is said that for one who has taken Deeksha all the restricions and pollutions prescribed in Hindu practices are irrelevant. My guru told me that even if there is a death in one's family, a deekshita's daily ritual is so important as it CANNOT be broken. We enjoyed your post on kali with all the different icons and ramprasad poems... thanks for posting it! i liked your dream! well, to me it sends a powerful message... although i am not an expert on 'dream' interpretation... from your dream i gather, it is o.k for you to go to the 'fourth' shrine (if that is the shrine of kali or durga) - looks like the little girl is none other than goddess durga herself who says" it is o.k for you to go to the temple even though it is 'that time of the month." but being a strict tamilian who follows some of the customs and traditions although stationed in usa , i would not dare to go to shri hanuman's or murugan's temple just because it has been ingrained in me rom childhood that women having their monthly periods should not enter temple premises... but in reality, let me ask you one thing! is god/godess only in the temple? he/she is everywhere - he/she is onipresent ! but as our beloved member trsidale has pointed out nothing is 'pure or impure' in tantra... in fact, the first mentrual period is called the 'swamyambhu' blood and is worshippable as part of yoni puja! the yoni is as sacred as the lingam and to insult a yoni is to insult a woman or a devi in that woman! similarly, to view the shiva lingam as a phallic symbol is to miss the whole point of divinity in creation, preservation and destruction for the shiva linga contains shiva , brahma , vishnu and shakti! here i would like to quote... The Kaulavali Nirnaya (Agamanusandhana Samiti, Calcutta nd), edited by Sir John Woodroffe, is a digest ofother Kaula tantras. Summarising chapter 18, Sir John paraphrases the tantra:- - "there are people who regard semen and menstrual fluid with disgust, but they forget that the body by which they hope to attain Liberation iscomposed of these two forms of matter, that the marrow, bone and tendons have come from the father and theskin, flesh and blood from the mother. It further says that there is no reason for man's disgust for excreta orurine, for these are nothing but food or drink which has undergone some change and contains living creatures and the Brahman substance is not absent therefrom...All things are pure. It is one's mentality which is evil."(KN, introduction, pp19-20) see, how devi_bhakta is slowly influencing me!! i have started quoting woodroffe also!! smiles!!! but the reason why we do not want to go into great detail about all these different sadhanas like yoni puja etc are to the uninitiated, it makes no 'sense' and in any case these rituals should be undertaken only under the expert guidance of a guru!! hope this perspective helps! love shakti_sadhnaa Sign-up for Video Highlights of 2002 FIFA World Cup
