Thank you, Colin !

you state in your post ...

" The Goddess of the Kalika Purana has a terrible side -- she

receives blood

sacrifices, as I mentioned in an earlier posting. Yet she is also a

Goddess

of passionate love."

beautiful description!

this is why our divine mother is called " KAMAKSHI" - THE ONE WITH

THE 'LUSTFUL' EYES ... but her ;lust or desire is only for her

eternal consort KAMESHWERA -the lord of desire ! so, that is why our

divine mother 'sati' incarnates as parvati to taste the weeternal

love of her consort PARMESHWERA! Tthe love story of shiva and shakti

is immortal... they are always in blissful union - purusha and

prakriti!

on another note, colin ---- i would like to share a powerful passage

i read in one of devadutt patnaik's book ...

"That ultimately sexuality and gender are nothing but mediums

and clues and signposts that lead us to the divine. The aim of

life is not to be queer or straight, man or woman, right or

wrong. Life is a wonderful opportunity to experience what has

been given to us, what happens to us, what we can change and

cannot change through the years, and by being sensitive to this

experience seek the meaning of life and ultimately discover

the divine. With realization of our true identities comes release.

We are no longer fettered by biology, nature, culture, or even

imagination."

with all my love and blessings,

have a great day!

Hello Adi Shakthi.

Glad you like what I wrote. Thank you for your thoughts about the name Kamakshi.

I agree that your quote from Devadutt Patnaik's book is a powerful one. I

had not heard of this writer before, and would be interested to learn more

about him.

Thinking of your earlier message about Tantriks and Bauls, you wrote that

Tantriks use sexuality as a means to mukti, whereas for the Bauls love is

an end in itself. Would you describe Patnaik's viewpoint as a Tantrik one

or a Baul one?

Blessings,

Colin.
