Guest guest
Thank you so much db! it is very gracious of you to remember my humblr contributions to the ex shakti sadhna club.. yes, it has been a year i still cannot find if anyone has sung this great stotra - i know you are a lover of devotional music - i will keep trying, dear! here is a description of Lord ARDHANAREESHWERA ON THIS BEAUTIFUL MONDAY DEDICATED TO THE WORSHIP OF LORD SHIVA ! Brahma was unable to create and bring forth creatures from his mental creation. To know the method of creation he did Tapas. As a result of his Tapas Adyasakti arose in Brahma's mind. Through the help of Adyasakti Brahma meditated upon Tryambakesvara. Pleased by the penance of Brahma, Lord Siva appeared in the form of Ardhanarisvara (half male and half female). Brahma praised Ardhanarisvara. Lord Siva then created from His body a Goddess by name Prama-Sakti. Brahma said to the Goddess: "I was not able to bring forth creatures by my mental creation. Though I created the Devatas yet they could not multiply. Therefore, I wish to bring forth creatures by intercourse. Before Your appearance or till now, I was not able to create the endless female species. Therefore, O Devi, be merciful and take birth as the daughter of my son, Daksha." SOURCE- swami sivananda -lord siva and his worship. Dear db, one of the reasons i admire swami sivananda so much is he has written on every topic under the sun from yoga to buddhism- and his web site is a great resource for all spiritual aspirants wanting to learn the many facets of hinduism ! of course, you are right ! They are his perspectives based on his direct experience... so is the gospel of shri ramakrishna... so are woodroofe's perpectives... that is why mu gurudeva used to tell me " mother, it is o.k to read all these various books but you must arrive at truth directly by your own experience. nothing like direct experience." How i treasure his words... on another note, in all hindu marriage ceremonies , the bride before KANYA-DAAN (the actual ttying of the grecian knot) will be seen as being seated on the right side of the groom and after the actual soleminization of marriage vows, the bride will be seated on the left side of the GROOM. that is why in the icon of ardhanarresshwera, shakti is seen on the left side of shiva. The left side is also the LUNAR SIDE - representing the feminine and the right side is SOLAR SIDE representing the masculine ! maybe someone can throw more light on this ! OM NAMAHA SHIVAYE! OM SAKTHI OM! LOVE love , "devi_bhakta" <devi_bhakta> wrote: > Thank you, Colin! > > That's a gorgeous passage I don't think I've seen before.
