Guest guest
THE relationship between a disciple and a guru is indeed a vey sacred one- it is the unification of two souls- GURU IS GOD - GUru is the spiritual transmitter and the sisya (disciple)is the receptor- but the guru kripa (mercy) can only be experienced through reverence, gratitude, humility and obedience on the part of the disciple For the flowering of the spiritual consciousness the sisya needs the water and sunshine of guru's love, compassion and divine light. We often hear the platitude " when the student is ready guru appears everywhere." BUt,UNTIL THAT SACRED MOMENT ARRIVES we all learn from the other upagurus around us- the scriptures, BOOKS, other sadhakas and their satsang ETC In fact, tantrik guru dattatreya lists 24 such upagurus- and even the BEE is one of them -HE SAYS- BE LIKE THE BEE-drinking nectar from one flower to another AND UNTIL YOU GATHER ALL THE HONEY OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE ....but, you will know when you meet your true GURU- because we are miraculously drawn to such a great soul - it is just like LOVE- blind devotion- meeting of two souls not two personalities.... how do you know this is your true guru- in order for the guru to be true, the disciple should be true too. only the gopis can distinguish between THE DIVINE MUSIC EMANATING FROM KRISHNA'S FLUTE and that of an ordinay cowherd. when you meet your true guru-there is transfomation- the guru takes over your soul- your ego starts disappearing slowly and steadily- your anahata chakra opens up- suddenly you start loving the people you hated before- the grass looks greener, the sky looks more blue and nobody has the power to hurt you anymore-you are in love-in love with the universe. when you start meditating on the guru and the bija mantra he initiated you with, you start making great progress in spiritual life... gita, the koran and bible all seem to convey the same message to you - the message of universal love- krishna , allah, jesus are all one and the same. the guru thus lights the lamp of knowledge and the disciple keeps the flame alive by pouring the oil of devotion in it. it is said when sri ramakrishna attained mahasamadhi, sarada devi saw the master's soul entering into the body of swami vivkananda- such was the master's love for his great disciple.... thus, in the beginning, the relationship betwween a guru and a discple is an impersonal one but as time goes by the realtionshp becomes more personal more intimate unil such time that you start imitATING all the qualities of youR chosen guru. by worshipping the Guru as GOD, WE become humble, and eventually we crush our ego to pieces. - GURU shows the Way but you AS A DISCIPLE NEED to do your part as well- Guru give you the food-but you should chew the food, masticate and digest the food - GUru is not just an academc authority,he is your very BREATH.. HE IS THE BRIDGE that helps you cross the ocean of untruth- he is your visible GOD- he is your link to the suprme brahman. jai gurudeva jai mahakali ********************************************************************** Ompremji has mentioned about 'shaktipat' - a very powerful spiritual transmission by which the Guru awakens the 'kundalini' shakti in the disciple... MOTHER MEERA herself described this 'shaktipat' in one of her interviews saying that there is a 'nerve' current in the back of the head by touching which the guru transmits this spiritual transformation..... I cannot find that reference readily, when i find that i will post it.... mz1008. a disciple of mother meera , - are you still amember in this forum-if so, please respond... You were the one introduced me to mother meera two years ago ! love ps- meanwhile, if we do not have a GURU, should we in any way feel inferior to those who have? HEAVENS, NO!!! for dEVI HERSELF IS YOUR INTERNAL GURU!!! SREE laita sahasaranama says - OM DAKSHINA-MURTHI -RUPINYAI NAMAHA SALUTATIONS TO HER WHO HAS TAKEN THE FORM OF DAKSHINAMURTHI... and pray who is dakshinamurthy- the guru of all gurus... in fact, shri adi shankara as well as shri ramana maharishi have said - " if you do not have a formal guru, meditate on shri dakshishnamurthy, he will show you the way. " All of us spiritual pilgrims can start on the path of sadhana by doing simple mantra meditation, breath meditation, reading scriptures, taking part in satsangh etc.... and slowly begin the purificatory process and when that 'guru' of your dreams arrives , you can welcome HIM/HER into the inner shrine of your heart... love
