Hello Sankaree,

Yes, the Rajarajaesheri ashtakam is a beautiful sTOTra made of 8

stanzas - at the end of each stanza , the poet addresses the great

empress sree lalita mahatripursundari (synonymous with

rajarajeshweri -same goddess -different names) as " chit rupi para

devata bhagavati Sri Rajarajeshwari"

You ask :

i can understand the meanings of most of the words except 'chit

rupi'. What does 'chit rupi' mean? Does it have any relation to Sat-

Chit-Ananda? If so, why is Devi considered to be 'Chit rupi' and

not 'Sat rupi' or 'Ananda rupi'? I hope someone can clear this doubt.

Great question, sankaree!

Chit -rupini means one who is endowed with 'consciousness' - Devi is

consciousness herself....

THe word consciousness is all inclusive word - which includes both

sat (existence or tRuth) and ananda ( bliss ) ... you are absolutely

right - the ultimate reality is always described as SAT-CHIT-ANANDA -

SO DEVI IS ALL THREE - EXISTENCE (TRUTH) - CHIT (CONSCIOUSNESS)-

ANANDA (BLISS) in fact, in sree lalita sahasaranama , sree lalita

(another name for sree raja rajeshweri- check this out in 1000 names

of sree lalita) , devi is described as sat-chit-ananda rupini!

Existence (truth) always implies cosciousness and is never minus

consciousness.

Existence-consciousness (sat -chit) also includes bliss - there is

no bliss without sat and chit- there is no sat without chit! . So, it

is existence-consciousness-bliss, not existence `and'

consciousness `and' bliss.

It is existence which is itself consciousness and therefore bliss.

so, devi is the vey embodiment of sat-chit-ananda...

but sometimes, different poets take poetic liberties and may call

devi chit rupini but chit includes sat and ananda ? consciousness is

complete only when accompanied by truth and bliss!!!

hope this helps!

SREE RAJARAJESHSHWARAYAII NAMAHA!
