Guest guest
Dear Aravind and I received this request from one of our respected members in my e- mail. Please Read the attached letter and if any one of you own this book or access this 'book' in your local library , could you kindly post the relevant passage from pai's book on " Hindu Religion and Iconology." on the goddess Bhadrakali... Aravind , i am glad you liked the quotation on 'chinnamasta' - i had chanced to read it somewhere on the web and since it was a great description of goddess 'chinnamasta' i had posted it here in this forum so others can read it... Dear one, i do not have a copy of this book ; otherwise I WOULD HAVE GLADLY LOOKED UP THE RELEVANT PASSAGE FOR YOU ON BHADRAKALI. Meanwhile, I request Colin, devi_bhakta, nora, ompremji, kalikaputri, or any other member here to please look up this reference in your local library and post the description of Bhadrakali for our member aravind... I checked on the web, but could not download the contents of te book- sorry! Please oblige, love ********************************************************************** Jami Blakeley" <jami108 Ma Kali adi_shakthi16 Jai Kali Ma I apologize for writing to you off-list, but I didn't want to clog up other people's e-mail. In your latest post about Chinnamasta, you quoted from the book "As you might know, this book is out of print, and I have not been able to obtain a copy. From reading footnotes in other books, it seems that "Hindu Religion and Iconology" may contain a description of the iconography of Bhadrakali, which I have been trying to find a description of for a very long time. If at some point when it would be completely convention you could look that passage up for me, I would be most extremely grateful. Anyone interested in locating a library copy of this book can go to abebooks.com and do a library search. I did a quick check for Canada and the U.S. and found it listed at numerous locations (mostly universities) in 27 states and 1 province. There is also a worldwide search function. Guest guest
Jai Kali Ma Thank you for your help. My experience has been that when I have a challenge in finding information, it's usually because the information is really meaningful. This quest relates in part to a poster of Mother Kali that I fell in love with six years ago. I used to spend hours just staring at her, wanting to formally worship Her and not knowing how. I suspect She is Bhadrakali. I scanned the poster, and it's at http://www.leeveal.com/pages/Kali.htm She answers prayers. She grants boons. She is our Mother. Again, thank you so much for your help. Guest guest
hi aravind, we have a wonderful group here - members are always willing to help ! I am glad you liked the response... but looking at the kali picture whose link you have given , to me it seems like the 'mahakali' my gurudeva used to worship (more like dakshina kali) for this is the image he had posted once in our tantra club ! bhadrakali is popular in Kerala temples ! maybe our beloved shankar kochu may be able to tell you exactly the difference between the two kalis- dakshina kali and bhadrakali!! Our kali bhakta colin may also be able to throw light on this --- well, dear one, Maa kaali is very powerful whichever image you worship! our gurudeva used to say the best place to rest is to lay your head on the lap of the divine other kali ! love and blessings, , Jami Blakeley <jami108> wrote: > Jai Kali Ma > > Thank you for your help.
