Guest guest
Below are the nine surviving Bhadrakali dhyanas: 5. The twenty-two varnas adorn Her face Glowing like the dark clouds at the end of time Seated upon a corpse With smiling face She gives freedom from fear Praised by Brahma and the other gods She sings with melodious tone Wondrous One Effulgent with the syllable "krim" I meditate upon the Goddess Within the mandala of the sun. I praise Bhadrakali With the seed mantra "bhaim." 10. She loves to reside In the mandala of the rising sun With a face full as the forest lotus Dark-hued One With gait graceful as a young swan Breasts high, rounded and mature Wearing a garland of lotus blossoms Book in hand Clad in yellow garments Standing upon a corpse She constantly visits The sacrificial space. I praise Bhadrakali With the seed mantra "bhaim." 41. She shines like fiery lightning Glows like heated gold Gleams like the luster of dawn She chants with melodious voice With shining fangs And lips of copper hue Her hennaed locks of hair Tremble in their high heavy pile Shining with the rising half moon Ropelike serpents wrapped around Her Adored by the great siddha, Asura and Surendra. I adore Bhadrakali with the seed mantra "bhaim." 45. Praised by Brahma, Madhava, Sharva, Indra Hailed by the three worlds With laughing face Intoxicated by drinking wine and blood She dances with delight Once again She drinks wine -- Reveling in the musical sound of Her veena She sings joyously -- Once again She drinks wine. I meditate upon Bhadrakali With the seed mantra "bhaim." 47. In Her lotuslike hand She holds The severed head of the creator of the world She smiles and sounds satisfied She devours the mover of the entire universe Like limp darbha grass She holds the bodies of Eternally dark Vishnu and Shiva I meditate upon Bhadrakali Glowing like new clouds Standing upon a corpse. 56. Devi adorned with five nagas Together with Tripura She laughs Auspicious, youthful, dark-faced With the moon as Her crown With pleasure She drinks wine Her feet are adorned by the three-eyed one Glowing like the sun Wearing the crescent moon Adorned with the twenty-two letters Standing upon a corpse. Praise Bhadrakali with the seed syllable "bhaim." 57. In Her hands a flute And two full-blown lotuses She drinks wine Seated upon a corpse With the crescent moon adorning Her crown Accompanied by companions. In my heart I meditate upon Bhadrakali With the seed mantra "bhaim." 69. Equal to a thousand rays of the rising sun Accompanied by three shining Kalis Worshiped by two bundles of kusha grass She is everything. Her feet are worshiped by both Bhairavas Accompanied by Bhima and Vahni-priya She banishes fear Invoked by a Jhankara Adorned with the twenty-two letters I adore goddess Bhadrakali with the seed mantra "bhaim." 70. The crescent moon adorns Her crest Dark-bodied One Radiant with the letter "krim" Of dusky face And ... letters Lips red as blood Known mentally by only the seed syllable "bhaim." Standing upon a corpse Lustrous in blue garments Adorned with the mantra "svaha" With limbs like slender creepers I adore Bhadrakali With the seed mantra "bhaim." Hope that helps, Aravind! Guest guest
Jai Kali Ma!!! Thank you so much! I really appreciate your precision in talking about the source. Mostly I aspire to be a simple lover of our Mother, but I also have this little part of me that continues to be influenced by notions of western scholarship. There is so much to meditate on in these dhyaana verses. "She is everything." Again, thank you so much. Jai Kali Ma --Aravind - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
