Guest guest
I added a new photo album. It has a photo of the Kali from Ammachi's main ashram at Amritapuri in India. Also it has three of my sculptures. INNER WEALTH is inspired by a bhajan called Amritanandam Coriyunnamme. Its verse called Mother "Inner Wealth" and said "Oh Inner Wealth, fragrant flower that blooms in my mind as poetic inspiration, awaken me with your sweet thoughts." The piece is 19" square. The "tiles" are ceramic bisque finished in shoe wax and acrylic paint. The housing is made of maple (the inside) and walnut (the outside). SHRI LALITAMBIKE is inspired by a luxurious end-of-day hymn of the same name. The hymn is packed with images from nature. It is said that at the beginning of her public mission when Ammachi was much opposed by villagers living around her, she went often to the ocean at l\night to call out to Mother and meditate. She saw Mother in the ocean as did I in making the piece. It is small..9" X 11." It is clay bisque finished with acrylic paint. RADIANT MOTHER is a portait of Ammachi. It measures 7" X 14." The wide smile I made in the face shrank to a look of concern and so I added a sparklin tear to her cheek. I have more photos at home including one of Bhadrakali as created in Kerala in the kolamezhu ritual. I'll post them in the album another time.
