Guest guest
Jai Ma Shakti, I read the translation of the Adya Stotram and I thought it was beautiful. What is the adya stotram? it sounds very similar to Devi Kavach of Durga Saptashati. Guest guest
Om Kali, Adya Stotram is Song of Foremost dedicated to Ma Kali.We could not locate the origin of this stotra and the last person who had this copy was Swami Satyananda of Shree Maa Devi Mandir . Kavach means armour and usually it is infused by sadhaka (spritual aspirant on to his body during puja )to manifest the divinity within during puja .The other way of applying kavach are by making an amulet and worn on areas as specified by the respective related scriptures. You could also read them before going out everyday. Durga Saptasathi also known as Chandi Path has various stotras for Divine Mother. They are four main suktas recited to Divine Mother and one of them is also dedicated to Ma Kali after Her victory. As for the Kali Ma Kavacham I have posted them before and could re-post for your kind benefit. As for any other Ma Kavacha please state Her Form and I would be glad to search it for you .... Guest guest
I think the first <bija> might be "HRIM," not "Rim." "Hrim" is the <bija> of Maha-Maya (the Goddess of Illusion), sometimes associated with Lakshmi. As someone else pointed out, "Lakshmibhyo" is a plural form, "to all the many Lakshmis." There are traditions where Lakshmi is invoked as eight different forms, each ruling over different types of blessings of prosperity. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Wed, 2 Apr 2003 16:31:43 -0800 (PST) jacek pollner <jacekpollner writes: > Dear Bhaktas od Sre Devi > My question about correct of Mamamantra of Sri > Mahalakshmi apeared from my very beatiful CD on honour > of Sri Laksmi. On this cd I find this mantra chanted by > Pandit Jasraj and this chants are performed in Laksmi > Temple in Mumbai. > Chant is so beautiful..but mantra is not undesrstood > by me because as I think words are chanted v correct > by as I think authority in this case. > Mantra is : > OM..RIM..SHRIM...LAKSMIBHYO NAMAH (a) > > Maybe should be SRIM insted RIM ??? or it is the same > RIM = SRIM but Laksmibhyo ??? > ______________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Guest guest
Hello Sandeep-Go to http://www.ambaa.org There are many of these stotrams you wish listed there in various fonts. They are not translated. Try a google search on each stotram and perhaps you may find an online translation and even a sound file. Then there's the tune. Most of these are not traditional svara-marked chants so the tune varies. Some are on the web-Music India online>devotional>sanskrit>stotrams. There are numerous tapes and CDs containing these stotrams, unfortunately one here and one there. You can order those online as well depending on where you live. In India there is Giri Traders. In the USA the is Srimatis.com. Best is to find someone who knows them of course, but that is , alas, not always possible. Guest guest
Krishna and Kali are both especially worshipped in Bengal. Krishna is called <Shyam>, Kali is called <Shyamaa>. Both are fond of musk incense, and most temples have special Saturday pujas to both deities. Yet Krishna worshippers are often afraid of Kali, and Kali worshippers are often dismissive of Krishna. I have heard Kali described as "Krishna inside-out." Krishna is all-attractive on the outside, yet he contains within himself all the awsome, frightening energies of the universe (as Arjuna discovered in the Bhagavad Gita). Kali is scary and gore-spattered on the outside, yet she contains within herself all the loving and nurturing energies of the universe. There are ten avatars of Vishnu. There are ten Maha-Vidya forms of Kali. Each avatar can turn into a Maha-Vidya, and vice-versa. Is it any surprise that Kali turns into Krishna? Bengali poet Ramprasad wrote songs asking Kali to change her sword into Krishna's flute. There is a statue of baby Krishna near the main <murti> of Kali in Dakshineshwar Temple. They blindfold the Krishna statue when an animal (usually goats) is to be sacrificed to Kali. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Fri, 23 May 2003 00:35:35 -0000 "skeletontongue" <skeletontongue writes: > Hello, I'm new here.
