Guest guest
Namo devyai I found this post on the net and loved it. Tell me what you feel about it! Thanks to Satish Raja for this great post ! aum , namaste, sometime back i saw the following statement in the tantra site ' At some time in history a school of Shri Vidya was formed on an orthodox Vedik basis.' the statement atleast in one way means to say that shriividya is not vedic in origin and it is tantric in origin. this statement is misleading.likewise there are many controversies in that site which are not our point of interest. i asked an upaasaka seeking clarification regarding this. my question was " are there any references to the devis lalitaa , baalaa ,tripura , sundari in the vedas. atleast in the atharvana veda." (i also mean vedic references to shrii vidyaa) the answer was "Regarding lalitha, bala, tripura etc.... The vedas including Rig and Yajur have so many references, you cannot even conceive. there are upanishads in the atharvana , like tripuropanishad, tripurataapinupanishad, etc.... The aruna prashna, speaks volumes of Lalitha. Vedic reference to Baala, is found in Rigveda, in the khila bhaaga of srisuktha, sudhaa suktha, etc tripura and sundari, in atharvana veda, yajur veda, etc.. Tripura appears some 70 times in the vedas." also he says the following regarding the origin of shrii vidyaa "The rigvedic hymn, "Chatvaari vak parimita....." etc, gives details of srividya mantra and its esoteric meaning. Reference to srividya and its mantra derivatives, have been made atleast in 20 places through out the vedas. Especially Yajur and Rig veda. Srividya, originates from three mantras of the vedas. 1. jatavedase rik. from durga suktha yajur veda 2. gayathri mantra, rig veda 3. mrityunjaya mantra, yajur veda These three together are known as shatakshara vidya or shatakshara gayathri, as they have a 100 letters in them. This is the basis of srividya. " these are only some of the references quoted.he himself says that there are many references. from the above it is very clear that shrii vidya is totally vedic in origin .i also heard that the above three mantraas are said to represent the very essence of vedaas. so there should be no doubt about the vedic origins of shrii vidya however hard some western tantrics may try to argue. i wrote the question and answer in a very informal way .i thank anyone who can format it to an understandable question and answer format. aum namaste, satish. I would like to add that the much popular Srisukta is an explicit proof in this regard. It is Srividya that is encoded in this sukta. If any one has read Kagollu Ramachandra Iyr's description of the Rudram, he beautifually brings out its assocaition with the vedas. -Harshanandanatha! Guest guest
HI Harsha, Thanx for reposting satish raja's post in this forum... YES!! There are references in the vedas regarding sree lalita tripurasundari, bhairavi and kamala , .... to name a few of the wisdom goddesses .... OUR BELOVED SREE LALITA TRIPURASUNDARI is described in 108 letters in the three vedas, in a triad each consisting of four lines in anushtup metre as follows:- Tat Savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dhimahi dhiyoyonah prachodayat parorajase savadom (32) Jatavedase sunavama somam aratiyato nidhati vedaha Sa nah parsadati durga naveva sindhum duritatyagnih (43) Tryambakam yajamahe Sugandhim pushti vardhanam urvarukameva bandhanat mrityor muksiya mamritat (33) The first four lines are known as Gayatri, of four feet. Their purpose is to unfold the divine presence in the aspirants heart. From this chandas or metre is derived the Sri Vidyâ mantrâ of fifteen letters! The next four lines are known to unfold the power of God in the aspirant and hence relate to the Shakti, the primal power. From this are derived the nine Chakreshwari mantrâs of Sri Chakra, a mandala of divine couples in union. Sexual union is a symbol for an active God - that is, God with his power to act; not the inert God who does not even want to see himself. The last four lines relate to Shivâ, the bestower of immortality, and the conqueror of death. The Panchadasi mantrâ of Sri Vidyâ has come to be coded by God in love with Shakti. From GAyatri, the three parts of Panchadasi - called the Vâgbhava Kûtâ, Kâmarâja Kûta and Shakti Kûtâ ARE DERIVED. . The kûtâs represent the union of Saraswati with Brahma, Lakshmi with Vishnu and Gowri with Shiva respectively. ********************************************************************* Just as Sundari is revealed from GAyatri, Bhairavi is revealed from the vedic mantrâ: jAtavedase Sunavâma Somam Arâtiyato Nidhâti Vedaha Sanah Parshdati Durgâni Vishwâ NAveva Sindhum Duritâtyagnih Taam agnivaranâm² tapasâjvalantîm Vairochanîm Karmaphaleshu Jushtâm Durgâm Devîm Sharanamaham Prapadye Sutarasitarase namaha² Durgâ in popular parlance jAtavedase : agni NAveva Sindhum : boat across ocean agnivaranâm : flame-hued tapasâjvalantîm : glowing with Tapas Vairochanîm : force of lightning Karmaphaleshu Jushtâm : sought in the fruit of works ********************************************************************* AND LASTLY, HARSHA AS YOU HAVE RIGHTLY POINTED OUT kamala's dhyanam is the 15 stanzas of Srisuktam. also, in sree lalita sahasaranama sree lalita devi is described as OM GAYATRAYAII NAMAHA SALUTATIONS TO HER WHO IS THE GAYATHRI MANTRA!! ********************************************************************** BASED ON A SITE BY shri amritananda.... Guest guest
I still hold that SriVidya and Vedas developed seperatly but at a later point each took parts of the other and enriched each. Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww do not hit me soooooooooooooooooooo hard. OK Ok I will give authorities; but I am not in a mental frame to go into this in details; as soon as i am I will give the info. I have. I maybe wrong and any criticism on that is welcome. I am willing to learn and change opinions. Kochu harshanand_16 <harshanand_16 wrote: Namo devyai I found this post on the net and loved it. Tell me what you feel about it! Guest guest
namaskar all devotees of the divine mother, I came avross this article by David Frawlley (AKA AS vMADEVA) and i would like it to share this information with you all! The Four Great Goddess Mantras There are four great Goddess mantras that govern the prime forms of energy as magnetic force, electrical force, heat, and delight. This is a Tantric teaching that reflects the Vedic Word and the four main Vedic deities. HRIM HRIM (pronounced Hreem) is the prime mantra of the Great Goddess and ruler of the worlds and holds all her creative and healing powers. HRIM governs over the cosmic magnetic energy and the power of the soul and causal body. It awakens us at a soul or heart level, connecting us to Divine forces of love and attraction. HRIM is the mantra of the Divine Maya that destroys the worldly maya. It has a solar quality to it but more of a dawn-like effect. It is charming and alluring, yet purifying . Through it we can control the illusion power of our own minds. In Vedic terms HRIM is a mantra of the Sun, particularly in terms of illumination. It increases our aspiration and receptivity to Divine light, wisdom and truth. It opens the lotus of the heart to the inner Sun of consciousness. It is a mantra of the region of heaven or the consciousness space in which all the worlds exist. KRIM KRIM (pronounced Kreem) is the great mantra of Kali, the Goddess of energy and transformation. It governs over prana as lightning or electrical energy. KRIM grants all spiritual faculties and powers — from the arousing of kundalini to opening the third eye. It has a special power relative to the lower chakras, which it can both stimulate and transform. It helps awaken and purify the subtle body. As a mantra of work and transformation KRIM is the mantra of Kriya Yoga, the Yoga of practice. It is the main mantra of the Yoga Shakti. As it is a strong mantra it should be used with care. KRIM is a mantra of Indra, the supreme deity of the Vedas, the Divine as the cosmic lord and enlightenment force. KRIM is the thunderbolt or vajra that destroys the serpent of the ignorance and releases the light of absolute truth. It represents the force of the atmosphere (Atmic sphere) and carries the supreme life force. HUM HUM (pronounced Hoom) is a mantra of the inner fire or thermogenic force. It both calls the divine down into us and offers our soul upward to the Divine for transformation in the sacred fire of awareness. It is a Shiva mantra but also a mantra of Chandi, the fierce form of Kali. It is used to destroy negativity and creates great passion and vitality. As a powerful mantra it should also be used carefully. Yet it can be used in a more gentle manner to invoke divine grace and protection. Through it we can offer ourselves or our afflictions into the Divine for purification and transformation. HUM is a Vedic mantra of Agni or fire. It is the mantra used to make offerings into the sacred fire. It also is used to call or invoke the fire and to make it flame up more brilliantly. It represents the soul hidden the body, the Divine immanent in the world. It governs the earth and the material sphere in general. SHRIM SHRIM (pronounced Shreem) is a mantra of love, devotion and beauty, relating to Lakshmi, the Goddess of Beauty and divine grace. Yet SHRIM works at a deeper level than merely to give us the good things of life, including health. It takes us to the heart and gives faith and steadiness to our emotional nature. SHRIM allows us to surrender to, take refuge in, or be immersed in whatever we offer the mantra to. It is the mantra of beauty and delight and has a pleasing lunar quality. It also relates to the head and can be used to flood the senses with divine beauty and delight. It promotes health and aids in fertility and rejuvenation. In Vedic terms SHRIM is a Soma mantra. It gives love, joy, bliss, beauty and delight. It has the light of the Moon and governs the mind and the realm between the atmosphere and heaven. It purifies and integrates the various aspects of our nature and renders them into ambrosia. These four mantras can be used together with OM: OM HRIM KRIM HUM SHRIM! This brings about an integral development of body, mind and soul in harmony with the Divine or inner Self. ********************************************************************** ANY COMMENTS ON THIS ARE WELCOME!!!
