Guest guest
essjay1124 I do not have a particular Goddess whom I worship. I love them all though devi_bhakta You note, "I do not have a particular Goddess whom I worship. I ove them all though." So you've come to the right place! All "Goddesses" are in fact One, but ideally we can cultivate devotion to all of Her diverse and awesome manifestations. essjay1124 What do you mean by All goddesses are One? They are all female, but they are different from one another. Rhea, Cybele, Hera, Isis, Ceres, Eos, Metis, Diana, Athena, Aphrodite, Persephone and Ariadne are all quite unique individules. No two are the same. Yes they are all Quite talented at manifesting themselves in a Variety of Forms and appearaces, But I can tell them apart from one another. I think They'd get very angry If I told them thy were all the same. That sounds like something Hades would say, when there aren't any goddesses around of course. I don't worship any of them. I just o what they tell me cause I know whats good for me. devi_bhakta Hi essjay ... Your question is, "what do you mean by All goddesses are One?" Unfortunately, my online time is limited today, so I can't pull together a comprehensive answer to your question. However, I'll bet some of our members will be more than happy to answer. Very generally, in Shaktism (and in modern particle physics for that matter), everything that is, is One. In physics, the One is described as a vast subatomic energy continuum. In Shaktism, that "continuum" is said to be the body of Shakti, the Goddess (in fact, the word "Shakti" is simply Sanskrit for "energy"), and Her consciousness is Shiva. They are opposite sides of the same coin -- they cannot exist separately, and nothing exists without them. This scientific-philosophic construct is too vast for mere humans to experientially comprehend, short of achieving moksha (enlightenment). And so -- as with the God-centered theologies -- we see the Goddess mythologized into smaller units that we can (with considerable effort, and still just barely!) get our heads around. All of the Goddesses you mention are beautifully gleaming facets of the infinite Diamond that is Devi (to meet just a few of their Hindu counterparts, take a stroll through our Photo Albums) – but each taken alone is plenty vast enough to fully occupy an individual human soul. In accordance with our nature and temperament, one of them will choose us as Her devotee, and She becomes the focus of our worship ... But ultimately, She is just our particular portal to the vast totality that is Devi. One member described the various god and goddess forms as icons on a computer desktop. In Hinduism, any icon you click will take you to the same hard drive (Supreme Divine Reality) -- in Shaktism, our chosen icon is a form of the Goddess. (The same member went on to add that in Christianity, only the Jesus icon will get you to the hard drive; in Islam, there are no icons -- it's the MS-DOS of religions!) The point is, however we approach it the Supreme Divine Reality is the same. It is vast and all-encompassing enough to accommodate virtually any approach. The thing is not to hop around, but to choose your approach and stick with it with total faith and understanding and devotion. This club is a gathering of those who have chosen the Path of the Goddess.
Guest guest
OM Nora and Deva Bhakti "in Islam, there are no icons -- it's the MS-DOS of religions!" Oh, Oh, and then there are disciples such as myself who use Macintosh and see it as much more intuitive and easier to use than an MS-DOS system (notwithstanding the fact that reading email attachments and archived material originating from MS-DOS sources is difficult if not many times impossible). Paths are many, Truth is One Omprem PS Sorry about that last blank message. Either my finger slipped or I had a senior's moment. Feel free to delele it.
