Guest guest
sunelectric101 Namaste, At the risk of stiring the pot, could the difference between Vedic and Tantic thought be explained? The seperation between these two streams of thought is not clear to me. They seem to interpenetrate and mingle in many places. adi_shakthi16 you are right sunelectric because the tantras do incorporate some of the ideas of vedanta , sankhya and saiva siddhanta. but, as dreamy and devi bhakta has so eloquently pointed out in many posts- tantra shastra is one shastra that cannot be 'explained' fully or 'learned' from clubs... if one is serious about learning 'tantra' one needs the guidance of a 'true' tantric guru! and it is by nature a 'guhya' sastra (a 'secret and a sacred' shastra) that cannot be 'publicly' discussed! even vedanta cannot be learned from books or scriptures- it can only be experienced by 'sadhna'! adreamgodus Om Shanti... Thank you dearheart, our Adi...i had wanted to respond to this and have been amiss...and will only jot down a few lines now, as it is rather late... Dear Sun..The Vedas and Tantras have an interesting history as both rivals that also share a family history that spans thousands of years... and this will often depend on which particular school one focuses on as to, how the relationship or lack of one has developed between the Vedas and the Tantras... much debate is given to this very question and the initial question: which came first: the Vedas or the Tantras--again, there is still some debate on this point... yet, i will endeavor to respond to your query in the Tantra club..i will need to refer to a few 'facts' from a book or two [ahh..those books!], and refer to a few historical references. Yet, as Our Adi mentioned, some features of Tantra are rather difficult to express ..for a variety of reasons, but, the primary being... Tantra expects us to realize by ourselves and to keep the method and scope of these realizations private. It is the Gurudeva that provides the spark--shaktipat to the fuel that will burn away Maya--but, it is the devotee that must fan those tender flames... So, as sadhakas, one and all, we seek that which will lead us closer and closer home.. these clubs offer this service--as gentle guides for the sadhaka to the more subtle points of inner light so that the sadhaka may ponder and realize themselves. This is why i often say that Tantra is not a passive affair..it is hard work, no one can just sit back and hope that the Divine Light will be just given.. like a sermon in church. Dear Sun, your excellent question has caused a series of semi unrelated answeres--this is good, for, it shows how keen you are on understanding more. This is the way of a Tantrik sadhaka...excellent! A Sadhaka that earns enlightenment through meditation, sadhana [right living] and service.
