Guest guest
Friends, As some of you may or may not know, I highly treasure my darshan times with Karunamayi (Bhagavati Sri Sri Sri Vijayeswari Devi) who once a year comes to my area where I live in the U.S. In the most recent book published, which contain Her various discourses to Her devotees (Blessed Souls - 3, The Teachings of Sri Karuamayi), She mentions some things that have gone straight to the depth of my heart/being, and which are very important to me. Oftentimes She will speak, I believe, in Telugu, and then Swami Vijayeswarananda will interpret. So what I am about to share may either be Her direct words, or the Swamiji's interpretations of Her words/discourses/or sections of discussion about various stories, etc. I was particularly struck by something I read in this book the other day, about the importance of trying "to have a place in Mother's heart". Here is the paragraph, from p. ll4 in which this is in: "Divine Mother's love is inexhaustible, sweeter than nectar. She is Vatsalya amrita varshini; She showers the ambrosia of tender motherly love. She is Guna mani, the bright jewel of divine qualities. She is Amrita varshini; She showers the nectar of bliss on all. She will not reject a child because he did not perform _tapas_. We are all Her children. So even if we are immersed in ignorance, if we just call out "Amma." She does not hesitate for even a second. When the boy called out to Her with intense love, She came running. She looks upon all, from great sages to helpless orphans, with equal vision. She is the One who grants liberation. If Divine Mother wills, She can take you to the highest of all states in a moment. She comes and holds the hand of the devotee who longs intensely for Her love. It is not just that we have to surrender to the Divine MOther, but we have to find a place in Her heart. The Divine Mother may be in everyone's heart, but we must try to have a place in Mother's heart." (Karunamayi) There are other words/sentences that really jumped out at me while reading more from this, Her third book, and they are the following: "In this _yuga_, people are not liberated; they are bound by many negative qualities." (p. l08) "Mother looks for inner purity only, nothing else matters to Her." (p. ll3) "In the _Kali yuga_ many people will be lying and making a lot of mistakes." (p. 76) "..when the devotee calls Her sincerely even once, She immediately goes and resides in his heart." (p. 68) "Divine Mother does not like anyone to be full of ego. She is Dharma samvardhini. She loves righteousness, and will protect anyon who is _dharmic_." (p.62) "By considering the story of Durvasa and Daksha, we can understand that no matter how high we may have reached, even one small, mean quality can bring us down to a lower state." (p. 63) "In order to come to Divine Mother one needs a lot of purity and peace and tenderness. _Tapas_ is not required." (p. 57) "Even seekers who have destroyed their ego and pride receive God's grace with great difficulty. To receive and experience divine grace, they have to do _sadhana_ for forty or fifty years. It is not something that will easily fall into your lap." (p. 43) Kathy Celestial_Saraswati
