Guest guest
Namaskar to All! I would just like to note for the record that "Shakti Sadhana" is one year old today -- we were originally a Club, founded on 31 July 2001; Nora established this group a month or so later an auxiliary. Then decided to transform all Clubs into Groups, and this became our full-time home. And what a year it's been! In fact, I can barely come to terms with the fact that we're not older! So many ups and downs we've seen since then -- both in the larger world (the World Trade Center attacks occurred when we were just over a month old), in my little world (I lost a parent to cancer, inter alia), and in the club: We had around 600 members when a disgrunted founder nuked us back to zero this past January. We recovered and built back to 270 members when a hacker who was targeting all the Hinduism clubs decimated us back down to around 100 just months ago. And we recovered again. And politics and interpersonal dramas of the universe is simply too labyrithine to recount. Along the way, Devi has taught us that much, including the fact that Shaktism is a democracy not a theocracy -- but that democratic freedom brings with it responsibility. We had to switch on the "approve messages" option to stop hoax and anti-Goddess posting; but we used the "Poll" function to let members decide which kinds of posts we should and shouldn't let through. And I make it a point never to reject a post simply because it's critical of me or Nora or our views. Anyway: All of our setbacks during this tender first year seem to have made us stronger. Our core supporters always come back to us, bringing friends in tow, and our current incarnation is a wonderful configuration of members -- we are proud to count each of you as members of our family. Personally, I know I've gleaned considerable wisdom this year -- perhaps that's what I get for worshiping Maatangi, one of the Wisdom Goddesses; I once read that "When you pray for wisdom, God kicks you in the ass!" And yes, sometimes She does. Nora says the same -- that she's grown in so many ways this year. She's been an incredible partner, and I want to thank her here publicly for her huge contributions and countless hours of work. But mostly I want to thank all of you for supporting this forum, and DEVI above all, for inspiring our efforts, such as they are ... Guest guest
OM Devi Bhakta and Nora <<But mostly I want to thank all of you for supporting this forum>> We would not be supporting this most worthwhile forum, if it were not for the effort, dedication, devotion and generally sattvic nature of both you and Nora. Thank you both for allocating all the time and thought that is required to operate a substantial group such as this.
