Guest guest
Just thought to share this with you all Every year during summer months snakes showed up in our yard, different looking, big and small. It so happened that I was the one who would see them, sometimes almost stepped onto one !!Although neighbours assured me that they were merely garden variety and harmless not like the ones we have in India deadly ones. It came to a point where I was afraid to step onto the grass,so I decided that something had to be done.I called home,India, and asked my sis-in-law to go to the temple and tell the priest about this and offer puja to Devi mansha. The priest agreed to perform a special puja and asked her to bring milk and banana as offering and a puja was performed . Friends you will not believe this, since that day,its been couple of years now,not a single snake has been since seen in our lawn. My pranam to Devi manasha. Chumki. Guest guest
Thank you Chumki for that experience. Sri Nageswari Devi is quite popular over at this region. I guess because being in a tropical region, Snakes are nothing new here. There's a Nageswari temple about 10 mins ride where I am staying, and in many of the local temples ( Devi temples ) Nageswari Devi presence is a must. Even in Shivan temple, located on the highest level of Kuala Lumpur, Manasa Devi have a special sanctum of her own. I grew up in a village where snakes are not a rare sight. My Late Mother ( peace be upon her ) had a Cardiogenic shock because a snake fell on top of her head while she was fetching water from the well. She was hospitalized for a long time. I grew up feared of snakes. I associate Snakes with my mother long hospitalization and subsequent illness. Then one day during one of my trips in a rural temple where they have devotees going into trance, Nageswari Devi came down in one of the ladies. I immediately hide behind the pillar, the lady stood up, look straight and call me to come forward ( using her hand to indicate ). It takes a lot of persuasion to bring me forth to stand before her. She just put her hand on my head, smile and told me not to be afraid of her, said she will protect me. Thereafter my fears of snake evaporates. Jai Sri Nageswari Devi !!
