Guest guest
Hi, I'm a little new to the group, so please excuse me if this is an inappropriate question... Is there any Goddess that represents the universe...even say other galaxies, etc.? I guess I'm asking because I've been working on this theory of mine (hardly original...even popular culture like the xfiles has tapped into it) that the original higher power that came and influenced our evolution was actually from another galaxy. specifically, a meteor or some such thing came and had some type of life form that produced a huge jump forward in human evolution. There is in fact a period in the evolutionary history that has been largely unexplained...basically nothing had been happening for tens of thousands of years, and all of a sudden...boom! So the idea would be that we are infact part of universal life, both spiritually (which we knew already) and biologically. There are drawings done by aborigines called the wondjina in Australia, cave drawings done during what they call the "dreamtime" many, many years ago that also some have said prove this theory. And so while I'm am developing my own personal spirituality, this has been one thing I have been searching for...a connection to this type of idea....but I either find stereotypical ufo type stuff (which is fine, but not what i'm looking for exactly) or other types of things like goddess worship which I'm totally into, but which often really focus on earth based ideas, although this may be my own misinterpetation. I hope this makes a bit of sense, and again hope it's ok to post this question here...any urls, info you might have would be much appreciated! laura degrace lauradegrace
Guest guest
My $0.02: I thought about a similar question for a long time. My reflections / study / experiences: God(dess) is beyond time, space, causality, name, form, emotions, attributes, . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . God(dess) is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . A world is limited and so is a galaxy and thus God is beyond that! Similarly, the question of God existing does not arise as he is beyond causality and time. S(he) always existed - manifested or not is a different story. The Bhagavad Gita says Brahman is the eternal unmanifest while Krishna (for example) is a temporal manifest form appearing for a limited time for a limited purpose (destruction of evil and establishment of righteousness). Krishna says in the tenth chapter that all the manifestations (good and bad in the human point of view) are his creations and He is in them. Some people misinterpret this to say that Krishna is the only deity to be worshipped for spirituatl progress and salvation, forgetting that Krishna himself said that he comes from time to time in the manifested (human or animal) form. Similarly, if you look in Devi Mahatyam or Chandi, the Goddess is eternal, auspicious, supreme bliss, prosperity, strong, gentle, etc. and is to be worshipped in the form of intelligence, hunger, mind, beauty, mercy, contentment, modesty, faith, etc. etc. It also states that all minor gods worship the Goddess. In fact I have an Indian minature on my wall in which Durga is seated on a tiger and all the gods including Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma etc.a re standing in line to make their offerings! According to Kashmir Shaivism, no single event created God but Shiva (eternal unmanifest) decides to manifest and goes through several stages to create this phenomenalogical universe. There is a theory on how he does it which is outside the scope of the present discussion. This goes back to saying that God(dess) is beyond cause and effect except for his / her own free will on when to decide to manifest. Thus there is only one God (eternal unmanifest or temporal manifest) for all worlds and all galaxies. This is such a mind bogling concept and I constantly think about it. There cannot be a different God for each galaxy as the boundaries of galaxies are themselves nebulolus and changing!!! On the other hand, if you accept that there is a different God for each galaxy, then why not a different God for each planet, universe, country, century, etc. etc.?
