Guest guest
>From Devi Bhakta Radha and Her amourous encounters with Krishna serve, on different levels, both as profound religious allegory and as an appealing and sentimental tale of love and romance. At the highest level, Radha and Krishna are but Vaishnava names for Shakti and Shiva -- they are One, the Unity of the Divine Feminine with the Divine masculine. However, most Vaishnavas would place Radha as Krishna's subordinate rather than His equal – and thus She is rarely afforded much attention in Shaktism, where the Goddess is seen as at least Her consort's equal, and largely independent of His influence. Radha never becomes quite as independent as, say, Lalitha Tripurasundari or the Dasha Mahavidya. But She does appear as something very close to Krishna's The great literary classics that focus on the Radha-Krishna romance are the "Gitagovinda," a 12th Century epic by the Sanskrit master Jayadeva; and the Bhagavata Purana. Both of these masterpieces exalt Radha as a strikingly beautiful and compelling woman: proud, intelligent, sensitive, brooding and passionate. She is a simple village woman, supposedly -- a cow-herdess (gopi), who is already married. And yet the sheer, sustained personal fascination and erotic power She wields over Krishna makes clear that She is no mortal woman, but a full avatar of Devi Herself. Her earthly marriage does not get in the way of Her divine romance. Nor does her lowly social status keep Her from becoming the center of Krishna's world. The tales of Krishna and Radha portray them coming together separating, flirting, leaving, returning, quarreling -- and finally uniting, as the individual soul finally unites with the Divine Unity. In this image, Radha is churning milk at the break of dawn, as she waits for Her beloved Krishna.
Guest guest
This is the translation of "Karoli Chandran," a Malayalam bhajan sung by my beloved Ammachi: After the cloud-complexioned moon has vanished, after Kanna has gone to Madhura, Sri Radha wept bitterly due to passionate attachment. She fell on the ground immersed in tears. By constant thought of Krishna, She Herself became Krishna and getting up quickly, looked here and there with a sorrowful face and began weeping. "Where has my dear friend Radha gone? I can't bear this separation anymore. Have I said any harsh word to Her or have I looked at another Gopi?" Friend, call Radhika. Without Radha there won't be Krishna. Are Krishna and Radha separate? By constant thought of Krishna, Radha got Krishna Bhava. In that bhava, She began walking. When She became conscious, She fell down chanting "Krishna Krishna." Jai Radhe! Guest guest
Maybe I should add. That mantra is not for meditation, as far as I know, but rather to address Radha when doing offerings and such. Here are some explanations of the name Radha (both from the Brahma-vaivarta purana) The syllable "raa" signifies Mahavisnu, in whose hair-pores the worlds exist; The syllable "dhaa" means creatrix or wet nurse (dhaatrii), in the sense of mother, in the worlds containing all creatures I am the wet nurse, the mother lf of all these; I am the goddess Mulaprakriti. And here another: The letter "r" destroys the sins of a crore of births and the consqeunces of karma good and bad. the letter "aa" dispenses with dwelling in a womb, death, and disease "Dh" destroys the decrease of life "aa" destroys the bonds of the world. By hearing, remembering, or pronouncing these letters, these evils perish without doubt. -- Prisni
Guest guest
swaha also means "I and god are one' in some cases it means "i am one with god" this forms a bond of unison between you and the deity through the mantra, so the mantra becomes something like a glue. Guest guest
that mantra comes from the devi bhagavata and it comes from the dialogue of lord narayana and narad. In this he says to make japa of this mantra to attain the blessings of krishna. He states furthur that the rishi's have unconditional respect for him due to him doing the japa of this mantra! So it is definetly for meditation, he furthur more gives a stotram to radha saying that it is the most powerful mantra to please her. Digital How To- Get the best out of your PC! Guest guest
"Can we can have Sri Rukmini as next week's goddess? One can't talk about Sri Radha without mentioning Sri Rukmini. Besides, next week runs into Krishna Janmashtami." Now how can you say no to the One with the golden eye !!!!! Yes its rather interesting that nothing much was said about Sri Rukumani. I love to explore more into both of these: Sri Radha and Sri Rukumani. When I asked a friend, he said : To him both are the manifestation of Sri Lakshmi. All these are their Divine Play. Actually we ( Devi Bhakta and me ) have intention of having Narashmni Devi ( Lakshmi Devi in a form of Lion ) as the next Goddess of the Week. BUT !!!!!!! Why don't we hear what others have to say first. Hopefully Devi Bhakta still remember us when he come back from his Vacation. Guest guest
Sri Radhe sharanam mama! Namaste. Your picture of 'Bani Thani Radha' has attracted me here to join you all. It is always a great pleasure to glorify my Beloved Radhika. "devI kRSNa mayI proktA rAdhikA para devatA sarva laKSmI mayI sarava kAntis saMmohinI parA" (Caitanya Caritamritam Adilia, ch 4, 82-99 & Brhad-GautamIya-tantra) "The transcendental Goddess Srimati Radharani is NON-DIFFERENT from Lord Sri Krishna. She is the origin of all Lakshmi devis, Who derive Their beauty and powers from. She possesses All the Attractiveness to attract the All Attractive Personality of Godhead. She is the Primeval Divine Potency." "tayo rip yubhayor madhye rAdhikA sarvadhAdhikA mahAbhAva svarUpe yaM guNair ati garIyasI" (Ujjvalanilamani - Sri Roopa goswami) In Both Divine Personalities, Radhaji is considered always highest, as She alone is the embodiment of the Bliss of Maha Bhava. "yaH kRSNAH sA 'pi rAdhA yA rAdhA kRSN yeva saH" (Narada Panca Ratram) Sri Radha and Krishna are of the same essence. The Divine Form that has been manifested as Krishna, is of Radha's and Sri Krishna Himself is the same Radha. "ye yaM rAdhA yas ca kRSNo rasAbdhiH ddehazcaikaH krIdanArthaM dvidA bhUt" (RadhikA tapaniyopanishad) The Divine couple, Radha and Krishna constitute the unfathomable Ocean of Ultimate Bliss. They have assumed Two Personalities only to engage in the playful pastimes of Divine Love. "kRSNena ArAdhyata iti rAdhA kRSNaM samA rAdhayati sadeti rAdhikA" (Radhikopanishad) Sri Radhaji is worshipped by Sri Krishna and hence is called as Radha. She in turn adores Her Lord Krishna and so She is known as Radhika. "kRSNaM vadanti mAm lokAz tvayaiva rahitaM yadA zrIkRSNaM ca sada te 'pi tvayaiva sahitaM param" (Brahma Vaivarta Purana) Lord Krishna says to Radhaji, "They callme simply Krishna. When I am associated with You, they call Me Sri Krishna. You alone are the cause of My honour, My wealth and My power of Grace. Infact, You only are My support and cause of all My Divine manifestations." "rAdhA kRSNAtmikA nityaM kRSNo rAdhAtmiko dhRvam" (Brahmanda Purana) Sri Radha is the Soul of Lord Krishna. Krishnaji alone is the Soul of Sri Radhika. This is the eternal Truth. "zrI kRSNa prArthane sAnA.... nandanandana lAlitA kRSN ArAdhyA bhakti sAdhyA kRSNa dehArdha dhAriNI" (Radha-Krishna yugala sahasra nama) Always being loved and adored by Lord Krishna, Radhaji assumes the worshippable form, to whom all heavenly gods and goddesses pay their reverence and respect. She alone is the bestower of powers to them to create, to maintain and to destroy the universes. "cida cillakshaNaM sarvaM rAdhA kRSNa mayaM jagat" In the entire creation, every thing moving and non-moving are all pervaded by Sri Radha and Krishna. "kRSNa prANAdhi devI sAta dadhIno vibhurya taH rAsezvarI tasya nityaM tadhA hI nona tiSTathi" Sri Radha is the life-breath of Sri Krishna and the Supreme Personality of Godhead is always under Her control. Radhaji being the Raseshvari, Goddess of Divine Love, She eternally associates with Lord Krishna, as He cannot exist without His Soul, Radha. "rAdhnoti sakalAn kAmAM stasmAd dh rAdheti kIrtitA" (Devi Bhagavatam) Being the ultimate Divine Power Who is able to fulfill all the desires of the three worlds including the Lord, She is known as Radha. "satyaM satyaM punaH satyaM satyameva punaH punaH rAdhA nAmnA vinA loke mat prasAdo na vidyate" (Narada Panca Ratram) Sri Krishna declares to Narada muni, "I am telling this truth again and again. Without lovingly remembering the Names of My Beloved Radha Rani, devotees can never achieve My Grace." (N.R.P.) "AtmA rAmasya kRSNasya dhrivamAtmAsti rAdhikA" (Skanda Purana) Sri Krishna is Known as 'AtmArAma", as He is eternally enjoying His Soul Radha. "'rA' sabdoccAraNAd bhakto bhaktim muktim ca rAti sah 'dhA'sabdoccAraNe naiva dhAvaty eva hareH padam" (Narada Panca Ratra) For 'ra' represents receiving unswerving devotion and service to Krishna's Lotus Feet and 'dha' represents dwelling together with Krishna for eternity. Sri Krishna also says, "Greater is My delight in hearing the Name of 'Radha', and dearer to Me than those who offer the sixteen kinds of worship, O Radha, is he who utters 'rAdhA'"(B.V.P) "Worship that Radha, the bestower of Prema. Quickly you shall go to Goloka, through Her favor and service." Bhaktas by serving Lord Krishna, (Who is unattainable by impersonal meditation), in a long time, after many, many births go to Goloka. But by serving Radhaji, Who is full of compassion and Grace, devotees go there in a short time. She is the Mother of Lord Mahavishnu. (B.V.P) One more verse, from the Sri Jiva gosvAmi's message sent to the devotee Sri Gadhadara Bhatta, "anArAdhya rAdhA padAMbhoja reNuM anAzritya vRndAvanaM tat padAGkam asaMbhASya tad bhAva gaMbhIra cintAn kutaH zyAma sindhoH rasy AvagAhaH" Without worshipping the dust-particle of Radha's lotus feet, without taking the shelter of the sacred land of Vrindavan where Her blessed footprints can be traced, without delightfully learning the depths of Her Divine ecstasies, from Her Rasik Saints, how one is supposed to understand or realize the Ocean of Nectar of Divine Love? Srimati Radhika's glories are continued: In Padma Purana, Srimati Radharani is glorified through these prayers- "devi kRSNa mayi proktA rAdhikA para devatA sarva lakSmI svarUpA sA kRSNAhlAda svarUpiNI, tataH sA procyate viprahlAdinIti manISibhiH tatkalA koti kotyAnzA durgAdyas triguNAtmikAH, sAtu sAkSAn mahAlakSmIH kRSNo nArAyaNaH prabhuH nai tayor vidyate bhedaH svalpo 'pi muni sattama, iyaM durgA hari rudraH kRSNaH zakra iyaM zacI sAvitrIyaM harir brahmA dhUmorNA sau yamo hariH" Lord KRISHNA says to RADHARANI in (B.V.P. Krishna Khanda), "yadhA tvaM rAdhikA devI goloke gokule tathA vaikuNTeca mahA lakShmIr bhavatI ca sarasvatI bhavatI martyalakSmIzca kSIroda sayina priyA dharma putra vadhUstvaM ca sAntir lakSmI svarUpiNi kapilasya priyA kAntA bhArate bhAratI satI dvArAvatyAM mahAlakSmIr bhavatI rukmiNI satI tvaM sIta mithilayAM ca tvacchAyA draupadi satI rAvaNena hRtA tvaM ca tvaM ca rAmasya kaminI" O Radhey! Just as You are My Beloved Soul of Goloka and the Queen of Gokula, in the same way You manifest as Maha Lakshmi and Sarasvati in Vaikunta, and also as Martyalakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. You appear as the opulent form of Santi who is the wife of Dharmaputra. You alone are Bharati Sati, the consort of Kapila Deva. You manifest in Dvaraka, as Mahalakshmi, Queen Rukmini and Your Shadow Itself takes up the form of Draupadi Sati. You ALONE appear in Mithila as Sita Devi and become the Beloved of Sri Rama and are abducted by Ravana. "tulasI puNya rupa ca gaGgA bhuvana pAvanI brahma loke ca sAvitrI kalayA tvaM vasundharA goloke rAdhikA tvaM ca sarva gopAlakezvarI" You are Radhika, the eternal Mistress of all Gopis in Goloka. You are also identified as the origin of Prakriti, and as Savitri in Lord Brahma's abode. You are worshipped as the Sacred Plant Tulasi and as ever purifying River of the three worlds, Ganga, and in part as Mother Earth. "'ra' zabdaz ca mahA viSNur vasvAni yasya lomasu vizva prANiSu vizveSu 'dha' dhAtrI mAtru vAcakaH dhAtrI mAtAhaM yetesaM mUla prakritirIzvarI" The syllable 'rA' signifies Mahavishnu, in whose hair-pores the world exists; The syllable 'dhA' means creatrix or wet nurse (dhAtri), in the sense of mother (of Mahavishnu in Whose pores worlds containing all creatures exists). So Radhaji is the wet nurse, the Mother of all the creation (including Mahavishnu), the Goddess Mulaprakriti, the Original Potency of Lord. "rakSa rakSa jaganmAtA aparAdhaM kSamasva me zizunAM aparAdhena kuto mAtAhi kupyAti" Situated in the Maternal Role Radhaji can be approached by devotees more freely by praying, "Protect me, protect me, O Mother of the world. Forgive my faults. Where is the mother who is angered with the faults her own children?" "Adau rAdhAM samuccArya pascAt kRSNaM parAtparaM" (BVP) "Adau samuccarred rAdhAM pazcAt kRSNaM ca mAdhavaM ZrIkRSNo jagatAM tAto jaganmAtA ca rAdhikA pituH zata guNe mAtA vandyA garIyasI" (Narada Panca Ratram) First utter the Name of Mother of the world 'RAdhA' and afterwards the Name of Father, Supreme Self, 'KrishNa', because, the Guru of Father is the Mother and so she is worshippable hundred times more. Sri Krishna says to Sri Narada Muni in Padma Purana- "ahaM ca lalitA devI rAdhikAyA ca gIyate ahaM ca vAsudev Akhyo nityaM kAma kalAtmakaH satyaM yoshi tvarUpo 'haM yoSicchAhaM sanAtanI ahaM ca lalita devI puM rUpA kRSNa vigrahA avayor antaraM nAsti satyaM satyaM hi nAradA" O Narada! There is NO DIFFERENCE between US, for We always are of ONE SINGLE ETERNAL DIVINE FORM. This is the eternal Truth. "AtmAnaM cintayet tatra tAsAm madhye manoramAM rUpa yauvana saMpannAM kisorIM pramad AkritiM rAdhikAnucarIM nityaM tat sevana parAyaNAM kRSNAd apyadhikaM prema rAdhikAyAM prakurvatIM" (Padma Puranam) The devotees, who accept Sakhi Bhava (Gopi Bhava), follow the sadhana given in Padma Purana, which states that one should consider oneself to be a young, beautiful woman, a loving companion of Sri Radhika, intent on Her service, holding Her in GREATER affection than Sri Krishna. Vrindavan Viharini Alibeli Sarkar ki Jai! Nikunja Viharini Rangili Sarkar ki Jai,!! Jaya, Jaya Sri Radhey!

Guest guest
Radhey, Radhey! Namaste. Here is one 'pada', Bengali song of a Rasik-Saint, Sri Candidasa, describing the Glory of Sri Radhika, through the words of Lord Krishna. "uThite kishorI, basite kishorI, kishorI galAra hAra kishorI bhajana, kishorI pUjana, kishorI caraNa sAra sayine svapane gamane kishorI bhojana kishorI Age kare kare bAnsI phiri divAnisi kishorIra anurAge kishorI caraNe parANa sanpechI bhAve te hrdaya bharA dekha he kishorI anugata jane karo na caraNa chAdA kishorIdAsa AmI pItavAsa ihAte sandeha jAra? kotiyuga yadi AmAre bhajaye viphala bhjana tAra kahite kahite rasika nAgara titala nayana jale 'candidAsa' kahe navIna kishotI bandhure karala kole uThite kishorI, basite kishorI kishorI galAra hAra kishorI bhajana, kishorI pUjana kishorI caraNa sAra" Sri Krishna is saying - "When I get up or sit down or lie down, for ever, I only see My Soul Radhika, the Youthful Beauty Personfied! She alone gracefully adorns My neck in the Form of jewelled necklaces as well as My Vanamala-garland. I constantly do worship to win Her Divine favors of Selfless love and serve Her with all My Divine pranks. Sri Radha-Kishori's lotus feet alone are My Essence. When I am awake, Her Fond Memories haunt Me, even in sleep I cannot stop remembering Her Love and in dreams also, I am enchanted by Her Blessed Vision. All day, while eating or drinking I feel only Her close presence in front of Me. Day and night wandering in the bowers of Vrindavan, I am yearning for Her Love, sometimes I am calling out Her Names on My Flute, and othertimes I am chanting the 'mantra' of Her Name longing for Her association. My heart is ever filled with Divine Love of Radhika and I totally surrender Myself to Her lotus feet. I expect the same from My loving devotees also, to follow only Her Divine Love ecstacies in serving Me and never to leave the worship of Her Blessed feet. O My devotees on the path of Divine Love (Prema Bhakti)! Never doubt the fact that I am always under the control of My Sweetheart, Sri Radha. Listen to Your Yellow-silken robed Lord, Me. Leaving the Lotus Feet of My Soul, Radhika, even if you worship Me for millions of ages, your devotion will bear no fruit. Always remember that My Power of Grace is Sri Radha Rani. While Lord Krishna is recounting the Glories of His Beloved Radha, His heart is overwhelmed with Divine Ecstasy and His lotus eyes are filled with tears of Love. The Rasik-Saint Candidasa concludes the pada saying that by the Power of HER Divine Grace, Sri Krishna is blessed with the Loving Embrace (Union) of His Soul Radha-Kishoriji. --------- Srimati Radhika replies in this Bengali song of the Rasik Saint Chandi daasa: shyaama sundara sharana amaara, shyaaama shyaama sadaa saara shyaamase jeevana shyaama praanadhana, shyaamase galaara haara shyaama se besara shyaama vesha mora, shyaamasaaDee pari sadaa shyaama tanu-mana bhajana-poojana, shyaama-daasee hum lo raadhaa shyaama dhana-bala shyaama jaati-kula, shyaama se sukhera nidhi shyaama hena dhana amoolya ratana, bhaagye milaayala vidhi kokila bhramara kare pamcha svara, bandhuyaa peyechhi kole hiyaara maajhaare raakhiyaa shyaamere, dvija chandidaase bole Meaning- My exclusive shelter and eternal refuge is Beloved Shyama Sundara! Shyama alone is the essence of all My existence! Shyama is My life and breath! Shyama is the wealth of My soul! Shyaama alone is ever hanging in My neck as precious garland. Shyaama Sundara has become My nose-ring to adorn Me. Darling Shyaama has taken up the feminine Form as of Mine and draped Me in Divine blue garments of His own enchanting complexion! Shyaama has completely pervaded my body, mind and soul. Shyaama alone is My worship and adoration, upon Shyam only is My Divine Love contemplation, and I am simply His hand-maid in unconditional surrender! Sweetheart Shyaam alone is My wealth and strength. Shyaam only is My caste and klan, My presige and status! Shyam alone is the treasure-house of My happiness! Due to My great fortune, I have procured the priceless Jewel of Shyaama Sundara through Divine destiny! The song-birds (cuckoo) are singing enchanting tunes of fifth notes to excite My eternal Sweetheart and the roaming bumble-bees are creating moods of Divine Love intoxication! The Rasik-Saint Sri Chandidas proclaims in the concluding verse that Srimati Radhika has securely installed Her Divine Beloved in the core of Her heart. Jaya Sri Radhey! Guest guest
SRI RADHA--THE DIVINE MYSTERY By SRI SWAMI KRISHNANANDA Sri Radhashtami is a joyous occasion observed throughout the country, especially in the North, bringing to one's hallowed memory the advent of Radha, a name familiar to every religious historian and devotee. But, there is nothing in religious history which is so little understood as the particular spiritual significance which is the theme of the observance of this sacred day, the eighth day in this bright half of the month of Bhadrapada (August-September), the birthday of Radha. The word 'Radhakrishna' is a reputed compound name, and devotees generally run into mystical contemplation and even fly into ecstasies in their moods in an attempt to understand the relationship between Sri Krishna and Radha. But, as is the case with almost everything in the world, this relationship which is deeply spiritual and mystical, is hard for the human mind to understand, because God, and everything that is connected with God, cannot become an object of human understanding. The human mind is not expected to understand God, and to 'understand' Him would be a blasphemy on the part of the human reason. As a straw would try to carry fire on its body, the intellect of man tries to apprehend the divine mysteries in creation. Devotees of Sri Krishna relate a lot about Radha, the Divine Mystery. I can call her only a Divine Mystery and there is no other designation suitable. Even today, it is a mystery, and it has remained ever a mystery, because God's relation to the world, His relation to devotees, His relation to human beings, His relation to anything, is a Divine Mystery in itself. But the specific significance that is attached to the relationship between Sri Krishna and Radha is the supernal love that operates in this mysterious relation between God and the world. The world is ruled by love, which is the quintessence of God. The basic stuff of God's Being may be said to be Love, Joy, Delight, Bliss, Ananda. But man, being what he is, can interpret this joy or delight, this satisfaction or love, this affection or pull, only in terms of his experiences. There are only men and women in this human world, and we do not see a third thing. Therefore, when men and women contemplate the mystery of God, they cannot think in any other way, except in terms of men and women. This is a travesty of religious mystery and a demonstration of the human incapacity to equal the requirement on the part of man by the Law of God. Read any Purana or any Epic, still you will never be able to understand the relation between Krishna and Radha. On the one hand, it has been a theme for a divine upsurge and ecstasy of devotion in the case of pure minds and devotees, while, on the other hand, it has become a theme for sarcastic interpretations of the mysterious relation between the Supreme Male we call God, and the Supreme Female we name Shakti. Two extremes meet in the concept of God's Glory, and in the mediocre approaches of devotees on the path of divine love, these extremes are not felt. Most of us, may we say all of us, are mediocre followers of the path of God. The extreme steps are not intended for fragile minds, weak bodies, impure emotions and tarnished intellects or prejudiced reasons. The vehicle that can contain the divine mystery has to have the capacity to bear the fire which is God's Glory. Many times it is said that the embrace of God is an embrace of fire, and no man has lived as man after having seen and embraced God. These are some of the statements we hear from the adepts on the path. The Radhakrishna mystery is a secret, even as God Himself is a secret. What can be a greater secret than God's Existence! You cannot know where God is, or what God is doing, or why God has created the world. You cannot say what His relation is to us, or, our relation is to Him. You cannot say anything about Him, and the less said the better. Thus it is that when we read the Srimad Bhagavata Purana, the Brahma-vaivarta Purana and certain other texts where such extreme forms of divine relation are expounded, we retrace our steps and turn back dumbfounded: "Yato vacho nivartante aprapya manasa saha"-- Speech and mind turn back from that which they are not supposed to express or understand or think. The reason behind this difficulty is that we are, as human beings, not prepared to shed the human way of thinking. We have a reservation always, secretly maintained in our own minds, a secret which we wish to hide even from God's eyes. There is a fear in the human individual, a fear, on the one hand, of losing the meaning that one attaches to the laws operating in human society and, on the other hand, the fear of losing oneself in what devotees call Love of God. The term 'Love of God' may mean either love that a devotee evinces in regard to God, or the love that God has for a devotee. Either way, we can take this term, 'Love of God'. There is no half-hearted and mediocre attitude in respect of God. Either it is a whole-souled dedication or it is a nothing. There is no partiteness or reserved attitude towards God. It is a completion and a fulfilment which requires on our side also a fulfilled and a complete approach. But we are, as I told you, always men and we can think only as men. We are women, and we can think only as women. These prejudices do not leave us and they cannot leave us. Apart from the idea of male and female, there are other shackles by which we are bound to this earth, all of which are, as it were, steel chains with which we are bound to our own personalities and prejudices, which have to melt into a liquefied form before God, the all-encompassing, super-legalistic Existence, super-relational Being. The very thought of it will melt the human individual. This melting of the human individuality is called Love of God. Even in ordinary intense forms of worldly love, our individuality tends towards a melting, though it does not actually melt. We rarely experience intense love in our lives. Often we are like broken glass pieces with no worth or value in us. We are parading empty shells with no substance in ourselves. This is human life today. But this will not work before the realities of life. We can never entertain true affection and true love in regard to anything in this world, because we are mostly hypocrites. We are never true to ourselves and, therefore, we can never be true to others. This predicament is a tremendous danger before man's future. And this illness has come upon man right from the very beginning of his birth itself, and attaches itself to him wherever he goes in every incarnation. Perhaps this is the original sin that people speak of in theological circles. Unless we shed this completely and stand naked before the glory and fire of God as pure Spirit and not as men and women, we cannot understand, appreciate and feel what divine love is. This is why we cannot understand the relationship between Radha and Krishna, in the Radhakrishna compound. We go on reading about it but understand nothing. The attempt on the part of the soul to understand this mystery, is an attempt to dissolve one's personality, and no one is ever prepared for it. Such a sacrifice we cannot do. We have always a reservation, as I mentioned to you, and we approach God with a tremendous fear and a hidden purpose behind our own personal existence. We are not supposed to understand this mystery of Radha-Krishna. We are unfit. Man today is unfit for this sacrifice. The other aspect of this mystery is what is called the Rasalila, very magnificently, gloriously and touchingly described in the Rasa- Panchadhyayi of the Srimad Bhagavata, odious to impure minds but glorious to pure minds. Man himself is an odious existence. Nothing can be worse than his own individuality. He carries this impurity before God and refuses to understand superhuman operations in this divine world, the Kingdom of God which is this very earth. I do not know whether you are able to make any sense out of what I am saying, because it is difficult to express in language what is not supposed to be expressed. My humble obeisance to the Almighty Lord whose mystery is this creation. Our blessedness and well-being consist in realising that we cannot understand Him and in expecting His divine grace for our uplift. source:http://www.sivanandadlshq.org/religions/radha.htm Jaya Sri Radhey! Guest guest
Prayer to Radha Rani: "Radhika, jewel of joy and of form, a treasure, a sum of the finest gems, Those who bring to Your lotus feet love through love attain Krishna too. Beloved of this world's Lord and King, Mother of the world and its Queen, Who daily diverts the Cowherd's Darling, making Brindavan the center of Your Realm, Your feet clear a path through the dead ends of life, Sri Radha, dispenser of all that is Blessed. Taming life's terrors, a raft to the bereft, You, the Puranas and Vedas describe Not with one tongue but with hundreds and millions- Your limitless, boundless radiance they sing. Grant us to share in the worship of Krishna, Sri Radha; Sur Das begs for such alms." ('pada' of Rasik Saint Sura das, translated by John S. Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Namase all. Before we move on to our goddess of the next week, let me share a few more prayers to Sri Radhika. yo brahma rudra zuka nArada bhiSma mukhyai rAlakSito na sahasA puruSasya tasya sadyo vazikaraNa cUrNam ananta zaktiM taM rAdhikA caraNa reNum anusmarAmi (Radha Rasa Sudhanidhi) A Rasik Saint-Poet says: The great Gods like Brahma, and Sankara, the great devotees like, Sukadeva paramahamsa, Narada Muni and grand-father Bishmadeva, are UNABLE to obtain the TOTAL BLISS of the Supreme Lord and CANNOT FULLY attract His Grace, being UNREALIZED of His MADHURYA Rasa, His True, TOTAL ESSENCE. But the SAME Godhead Personality , CAN BE SOON brought UNDER favorable CONTROL by the POWER of A sacred DUST particle of the Lotus feet of Sri Radhika, the EMBODIMENT of Lord's Divine BLISS. So LET the OBJECT of MY MEDITATION SIMPLY be that BLESSED PARTICLE of Her FOOT-DUST. Without BEING FAVORED by Sri Radhika, it is IMPOSSIBLE even to UNDERSTAND the GLORIES of Sri Radha-Krishna and HER Rasik SAINTS, so what to speak of Prema-Rasa-CONTEMPLATION upon the DIVINE COUPLE and Their Nitya Madhurya Lila !! rAdhA nAma sudhA rasaM rasayituM jihvAstu me vihvalA pAdau tat padakAGkitAsu carataM vRndATavi vIthiSu satkarmaiva karaH karotu hRdayam tasyAh padaM dhyAyatAt tad bhAvotsavataH paraM bhavatu me tat prANa nAthe ratiH The Rasik Saint continues: O My Radhe! O Queen of Vrindavan! When will that most fortunate moment in my life will come? When Will I become RESTLESS for Your vision, tasting the Sweet Nectar of Your Names DANCING on my tongue? When will I ROLL on the GROUNDS of the gardens and flower bowers, looking for Your Foot-Prints and RUN like a MAD person? Contemplating on Your Lotus Feet alone in my HEART, when will I UTILIZE my hands and body for doing Your Loving SERVICE? Having dedicated forever MY WHOLE SELF to You, IMMERSED myself in Your Devotional Ecstacies, when will I ATTAIN the self-less Love for the Lord of Your Heart and ADORE Him , just for the SAKE of GIVING pleasure to You ALONE? O My Radhey! When will You make me ELIGIBLE for Your Grace? ONLY with HER Grace ONE gets some UNDERSTANDING of Her Glory and Her Saints. "Wearing light-colored clothes during the full moon and dark colors in the moon's absence, Sri Radha dresses TO PLEASE Her Beloved Krishna, and to facilitate Her nightly secret MEETINGS with Her Gallant Lover, Sri Shyamasundara. Radhaji's FAVORITE outfit is a "Krishna-Blue" sari and shawl matched with a pink blouse that DELIGHTS Sri Krishna. Radharani's upper garment is red like a RUBY, and it is the FAVORITE of Lord Hari. Radha's lower garment is the color of a dark blue cloud, and it is Her FAVORITE." - (RKG) "All glories to Your wonderful RUBY-red silk sari. O Radhe, that sari has DOUBLED the PASSIONATE Love I bear for You in My HEART!" - (UN) "O moon-faced One! O doe-eyed One! O Goddess! Oh lovely-nosed One! O One with reddish lips! O sweet Smiler! O Supreme Lakshmi! O creeper-armed One! O lustrous One of conch shell-smooth neck! O One with plantain tree shaped thighs! Oh Whose collection of lotus toenails brightly illuminates ALL directions! When, O Radhe! Will You be worshipped by me?" - (RRS) "The glaringly effulgent tiara's shimmering halo beautifully sports in ALL directions stretching to the HORIZON. Glistening sleek armlets, bracelets, and necklaces refract a collective, flickering of jewel-like coronas. Hip-spanning belt of softly tinkling bells, anklets charming musical chimes embellishing the MAJESTY of Her divine lotus feet, Oh, my MIND! Just ADORE and contemplate upon the EFFULGENCE known as RADHA!" - (RRS) "Holding that FOOT DUST upon their heads, the most glorious Gopis ATTAIN the exalted desired post, along with ALL the cherished benefits which are also HANKERED after by the peacock feather-crowned Blue Boy (Lord Sri Krishna). That precious Dust being the wish fulfilling Tree for the Rasik Saints and devotees whose path of Divine Love is ever like a grand festival of Ecstatic divine emotions (Prema-Rasa)... I fondly remember the same sacred dust of my Radhikaji's Lotus feet." - (RRS) Jaya Sri Radhey!

For the devotional sadhana of Srimati Radharan's devotees, Prema-Rasa- Acarya has composed this contemplative Hymn - ARATI ADORATION to Srimati Radha Rani. This 'pada'- KIRTANA is sung by devotees, visualising the Gopis performing Arati Ceremony to Their Swamini Srimati Radharani. The melodious tune is exactly same as in, "AratI kunja bihari kI," - sung by the famous Indian vocal artist- Srimati Anuradha Paduwal. AratI bhAnu dulArI kI, ki zrI barasAne vArI kI. Let me joyfully perform the most glorious ARATI to the Princess, darling Daughter of King Vrshabhanu and to the simple village Girl of Divine Barsana Dhama! virAjai siMhAsana zyAmA, divya zrI vrndAvana dhAmA DhurAvai cAmvar sughara bAmA, paloTai paga pUraNa kAmA, lalI paga aGk, cApi nizzaGk, zyAma janu raGk, pAyi nidhi pArasa pyArI kI Sri Kishoriji - My Radhika has been seated upon the golden throne in the Divine Abode of eternal Vrindavana Dhama. The "Purna-Kama" Absolute Brahman, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Whose desires are ever fulfilled, is tenderly massaging the lotus-feet of His Soul Radha Pyari without any hesitation! Moreover He is totally lost in the transcendendental ecstasy just as an ordinary penniless man has found a treasure of touch (philosopher) stone. The description of Sri Radharani's ornaments from head to toe (nakha- zikha-paryantha) is given for meditation. Her head is charmingly adorned with bejeweled golden tiara with an elegant swinginging central decoration, candrika. Her soft, lovely locks of dark beautiful hair are putting shame to the attractive plumes of peacock-tail. Her forehead is decorated with sparkling sindhur-the red auspicious poweder-dye and with the hanging rows of brilliant pearls. The Maha-Bhagavata, Lord Siva and Sri Suka Deva Paramahamsa are playing the heavenly, musical instruments while the Gopi-Bhava Rasik Saints, Nitya Siddha Gopikas are extolling the Divine virtues of Radhikaji and singing with their melodious, faltering voice. Due to Her natural modesty, now and then Radhapyari moves Her looks away from Her Sweetheart, throwing Him into the restlessness of separation and also into the unbearable anxiety for reunion. As Her intoxicating looks return to fall back upon Sri Krishna, Lord could not contain the Bliss of Her Divine Love and forgets Himself entering into ecstatic Trance!
