Guest guest
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/2209683.stm "Children buried in Hindu ritual "More than 100 children have undergone a brief burial in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu as part of an ancient Hindu ritual to appease female deities. " Does any one know what deities may be referred to? A further paragragh says "Locals say the ritual burial, known as Kuzhi Maatru Thiruvizha, has been taking place for more than 400 years and almost all those who take part do so in exchange for the fulfilment of a wish." I personally see no harm done here. There's a reference to "superstitious practices" and I feel that's very biased. I have seen children buried in sand for fun at the beach, that didn't seem harmful. How is being covered in earth more superstitious than being dunked in water as some Christian organizations in my country do? Does anyone know what the Kuzhi Maatru Thiruvizha is? I apologize for being absent and posting so little. My work became quite stressful and then I was in a minor car accident that aggravated some injuries etc. I have been reading Hindu Goddesses by Kinsley and I'm really enjoying that. I found that the local Krsna Temple has a gift shop with some delightful items. I now have a picture of Durga that seems quite protective and inspiring. Blessed Be! prainbow
