Guest guest
Most saints like Ramakrishna, Vivekananda and Shankaracharya had gurus. What makes Sri Ramana Maharshi exceptions is that, he did not have any guru in person. He claimed his guru to be the holy hill of Arunchala. At the southern point of the hill there was a stone hall known as Dakshinamurthi Mantapa. The Maharshi took this to be the shrine of Shiva teaching in Silence. This is an article by Prem Lata on some of Shri Ramana Mahashi thoughts about Guru.
