Where to begin. Right now I can only raise questions and not give answers.

How many shaktis are there? There is the 1 Shakti - Adiparashakti, she may or

may not also be Durga, Kali, Parvati, when in dual form with Siva, and as

supreme creatrix she may be identical with Lalita, sometimes also she is called

Mahalakshmi and she is the power of Vishnu the all pervading eternal being.

There is the Tri-Sakti of kali, Mahalakshmi, and Saraswati, the powers of

Tri-Mahadevas. They are also sometimes considered the shaktis of iccha

(volition), jnana (discrimination), and kriya (tapas=evolutionary action). These

three when combined are the Veda and the vedanta. Additionally there are the

shaktis of the chakras, called dakinis. They are from muladara up:

Dakini - with three heads

Rakini - with two faces

Lakini - three heads

Kakini - four heads

Shakini - five heads

Hakini - six heads

Mahashakti

Tibetans considered these dakinis supreme guides. I personally haven't seen

them so I wonder whether they are some diverse forms of the devata.

Furthermore, the Navaratna are considered nine nights for worship of the supreme

nine Shaktis, three facets each for each of three great mothers. Perhaps these

are the same as the nine major divisions of the 43 inner triangles of Shri

Chakra. Moreover there are also these 43 triangles of Shri chakra.

So far we have:

1 Mahashakti

3 Great Mother Shaktis

6 or 7 Chakra Shaktis

9 Great Mother Shaktis - Kali, Durgai, Saraswati, Lacchumi, Annapoorni,

Parvathi, Mukkambikai, Mahesh-Vardhini, and Ardhanareswari

43 Shaktis of Shri Chakra

Are there more even? Well, yes, you didn't think this was going to be simple did

you? For more info on the 43 shaktis I direct the reader's attention the the

great tantra site specifically this page of Mike Magee's

http://www.shivashakti.com/9mandal.htm

Kashmiri Shaivas have a whole doctrine called "spanda" about everything being

shakti. I just don't really know where to begin covering the topic.

Greetings Dashiki Djibouti

"Where to begin…'

It begins on the day you said ' It occurs to me that exept for

Adiparashakti we never really looked into the various shaktis, the

roles they play. They seem to be so many including the dakinis,

etc.... '

"Right now I can only raise questions and not give answers"

Questions is I believe a good start to anything. Who knows Devi will

send an enlighten soul in here and answers some of our questions.

>From my experience through questionins the answer will come

naturally. Lets questions each other ….

You said : There is the 1 Shakti - Adiparashakti, she may or may not

Could you elaborate more on this? Because from what I personally

believe, Durga, Kali, Parvati and all the other forms of Shaktis are

but the manifestation of Adi ParaShakti. Once somebody told me that

Adi ParaShakti is so enormous. You need to choose one of her aspect

and meditate upon it. Its like a huge cake, they say, you have to cut

it down into portion and eat is gradually, instead of trying to

gobble the whole cake down your throat. What is your or others

opinion on this?

Om Parashaktiye Namaha
