Guest guest
Namaste to All: A new page has been added to the homepage, entitled Mahishasura Mardini. Please have a look and let us know what you think, feeling free as always to suggest changes and improvements. I'm pleased and honored to annouce that our resident Durga Bhakta -- Chumki (blueblackeyes), who hails from West Bengal, the undisputed center of Durga devotion -- has agreed to contribute an essay of her memories, experience and reflections during Durga Pooja back home. I'll let you know when we add it in! And again, if *any* members would like to contribute to the homepage, please don't hesitate to volunteer! We need you, we want you -- the more people help, the faster the homepage will begin to reach its potential. For now, here's the new "Mahisaura Mardini" link: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/mahishasuramardini.html In other Homepage News: SHAKTA TANTRISM Speaking of generous volunteers, I'd like to thank our esteemed member, Mr. Menon (kochu1tz) for contributing a fabulous page introducing Shakta Tantrism. That page is not officially finished yet, and therefore is not linked to the main page. Menon is making some final edits to the page, and promises to have the page ready to post on Monday. Those who are curious can get a sneak peek at the work in progress at subdirectory "/shaktatantra.html" ... KALI Another most generous member, Yeshe_O, just sent me the first version of her Kali page, and it looks like it's going to be a stunner, as only befits this most formidable (and most famous outside India) avatar of Maha Devi! She has chosen to present the page from a Kali devotee's viewpoint, while spicing her account with some incredible artwork and inspiring scriptural passages. I'm sending her some edits this morning, and hopefully that page will go up very soon as well. LAKSHMI, SARASWATI and PARVATI Yes, I know, I know ... we've thus far failed to honor the "Big Three" Auspicious Forms of Devi. But trust me -- we will! Nora is getting ready to leave for a vacation in Bali (lucky her!) next week - - so expect to see some more of her fascinating photo essays when she returns. A great chance for us to explore the Goddess in Bali's unique brand of Hinduism. BUT ... in the meantime, she tells me that she expects to put up Version 1's of both a Lakshmi and Saraswati page before she goes. That puts the pressure on me to put the finishing touches on the Parvati Page -- already I've decided to top it with a larget, high-res scan of the Tridevi pic that graced our homepage earlier this week. Oh, and finally a hint: Rumor has it that Nora and Dakinic Monk are brewing up a fabulous Tara page. So look for that sometime in the hopefully not-so-distant future. HOMEPAGE FRUSTRATIONS A couple of members have told me that they find the homepage difficult to use. Too many pop-up windows, unstable (pages will spontaneously close down, etc) -- just generally frustrating. As a result, they don't use it much. Obviously, if that's a widespread feeling, then we've got a problem. So could you all weigh in on whether you share this impression? If we need to move to a better site, we will. Thanks as always for your support. Aum Maatangyai Namahe
Guest guest
Thanks for the great page, made even greater by contributions from members of today's live and vital Shakta traditions. I will give you an original Kamala painting sometime next week that you can be free to use. Also, though, the 50 megs web base isn't so great I'm afraid. As many as ten pop ups assaults one immediately. You know, you get webspace already just by being a member. And it is pretty good. It's on Geocities. Be logged in at and go to http://geocities./ and you will already see that you have a webspace for you. There's a file upload link on the right. Just upload and blam, easy. It does add that bar on the upper left of the page that's irritating but you don't have the thousands of pops. If you place this code here after the </body> tag then you wont ever see any pops or banners at all. Like at my site rudrajoes <p align="center"><iframe src width="1" height="1" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></p> Thanks again everyone for the tremendous and joyous effort to make SS a great webspace. - Devi Bhakta Friday, September 13, 2002 11:40 AM Homepage News Namaste to All: A new page has been added to the homepage, entitled Mahishasura Mardini. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice! I inserted the code on a few pages to see what might happen. We've still got banners but no pop-ups. See, it's hard for me to know what's happening because I'm usually logged in, and unless I log out and restart my comp, I don't see the same banner ads as everyone else does. Are there any improvements? Thanks DB , "Dashiki Djibouti" <dashiki_djibouti@h...> wrote: > Thanks for the great page, made even greater by contributions from members of today's live and vital Shakta traditions. Guest guest
well this last advice is for /Geocities only. I gave you 50 megs dot com advice another time. The codes are different. If you try this on then it works wonders.
Guest guest
Pranam. I really enjoyed this new page. It is well presented. I was just wondering if anyone knows the Kalikamba stotram? If someone from the group does, then perhaps they could send it in (with the English meaning, preferably) and we could have it in the forthcoming Kali page?
