Guest guest
Namaste to All! As many of you are aware, the lines between Shaktism and Tantrism can be somewhat blurred. As SilentSoul_55 pointed out in one of this Group's first posts (Msg #23), this association has led to many misconceptions about the path. Well, in an attempt to clarify both Indian and Western misconceptions about the subject, our esteemed member Shankar Menon, a/k/a kochu1tz (an initiated Kaula) has contributed an incredible new page for our Group homepage, entitled "Shakta Tantra." I really can't thank Kochu enough for his work. We as a Group are indeed blessed to have such a learned, devoted, and supportive membership. And -- as always (it's my job, y'know?) -- PLEASE don't hesitate to volunteer if you'd like to get involved in building or contributing to the homepage. As with the entire homepage, I suggest viewing Kochu's addition with MS Internet Explorer. When viewed with Netscape Navigator, there are several problems I have yet to iron out (yes, that is a cry for help, you html gurus out there!): namely, the introductory animation doesn't happen, the picture of Lalitha Tripurasundari gets dropped from the top of the page to mid-page, and the fonts are all different sizes. It's a bloody mess, in other words. However, on MS Internet Explorer, it looks really nice. I'll let you know when we've worked out the bugs on the Netscape view. Okay, you've been warned. Now, here's the link: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/shaktatantra.html Aum Maatangyai Namahe
Guest guest
It's a cool page and I would suggest getting permissions of the Shockwave authoer before using applet. Also, regarding the applet please cut down its size by changing the parameters in the sourcecode. The large size blocks up the smooth downloading and viewing of the rest of the page. Otherwise quite pleasant. BUT, one thing you will never find anywhere is a Kaula's recommendations for beginning practices to others. In no place on the net is there any such viable info. Even in Amrita's page there are practices but no instructions. Can't we have one small instruction that we can practice? That would be more than just lip service to the tradition. Guest guest
Thanks DD: Thanks for the permissions advice, but -- since both Kochu and I are attorneys trained to be hung-up and paranoid about such things -- all that has already been covered. If you look at the bottom of the page, all rights are reserved to the owners and a link to their site is provided. *** Can't we have one small instruction that we can practice?*** I'll pass that one on to Kochu. ;-) Aum Maatangyai Namahe
Guest guest
*** Also, regarding the applet please cut down its size *** I've cut it to 75 percent; how does that look? Originally we went with the larger size to "fill the screen" whenever someone clicked on the link. *** The large size blocks up the smooth downloading and viewing of the rest of the page.*** Is the smaller size any better, or should we drop the animation? Any and all input welcome. DB
Guest guest
Namaste, I am just baffled. I am trying to catch up on the latest posts and I'm reading all these fascinating posts about applets and features and I don't see any of them. Am I in the wrong place? Where is all of this stuff? Should I just see it when I click on Home on the list of options to the left? I appreciate your indulgence! prainbow , "Devi Bhakta" <devi_bhakta> wrote: > *** Also, regarding the applet please cut down its size *** > > I've cut it to 75 percent; how does that look? Guest guest
Hi Prainbow ... Sorry for the confusion. For those who've visited infrequently in recent weeks and months, Shakti Sadhana now has two "homes": 1. The Group. That's where you are now: Our primary center of activity remains this community, where we can actively discuss Shaktism and related matters. 2. The Homepage. That's located at: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/ This is a place we're building to preserve Group messages that are more than routine "discussion" ... that is, longer posts or essays by a single member, or particularly threads on important subjects that involve multiple members. We've barely begun! Over the coming months, we will be going back thru the archives post by post and editing them into "article" form, then transferring them into html code (that's another however, we decided to try and create a pleasant and original area in which we're begging for member assistance). Rather than just plopping a collection of articles on the Web, we've decided to try building it within a pleasant and informative Shakta framework -- with lots of large-format Devi art (so that viewers can see details, and even print out copies for their personal altars), hymns, stories, resources, pages honoring Her various forms, explanations of Her worship, links to other Shakti-focused Groups and homepages, etc., etc. It's a work for which I see no end in sight. It should just keep getting better and better, and more helpful all the time. That's the plan. Obviously, Nora and I are doing a lot of the work right now, but we've had great contributions -- for example, from Kochu1tz (the applet you asked about is at the top of his Shakta Tantrism page), Prisni, and Yeshe_O. Eve69 is working up a Kamala page. Chumki is preparing a piece on Durga. Adi is searching for hymns. Dakinic Monk is working closely with Nora on a Tara page. Nora and I are working up a Ten Mahavidyas home page, off of which we'll eventually link separate pages for each of the ten, with dhyanas, mantras, pictures, etc. And I really hope that other interested members will hop on board too. I'll just keep asking, inviting, occasionally begging ... because (as the site already demonstrates) it's worth the wait when you come through! Hokay? Guest guest
Devi Bhakta, Ohmigosh! It's beautiful! I love it! I look forward to browsing around. Thank you and all involved for this lovely place! Namaskar, prainbow , "Devi Bhakta" <devi_bhakta> wrote: > Hi Prainbow ... > > Sorry for the confusion.
