In Bali, Devi Sri is the consort of Wisnu ( Vishnu), the god of

Sustenance. Because rice is so important to the sustenance of the

Balinese, She is given the specific function of "The Rice

Goddess".

There is a shrine for offerings to her beside every rice field in

Bali. Dewi Sri is often depicted flying to indicate her beneficent

blessings of the crops the whole island over.
