Saraswati is the central deity of Bali's Hindu feminine trinity,

composed also of Devi durga and Dewi Sri, and is the specific deity

of artisans and students. They have many ceremonies, including in

school, to honour Saraswati, and ask for her blessings and

inspiration. She is the spiritual consort of Brahma, the Creator-

aspect of the male trinity. Saraswati's four hands each bear a Gift

to her devotees.

She stands upon a lotus, which shows the "natural openess" needed for

true creativity and learning. Her "spiritual vehicle" is a large

white swan, expressing her Divine "Purity and Freedom"
