Guest guest
Tumpek = is a ritual and belief system Landep = a tool usually referring to sharp objects like swords, scissors etc. But in the modern version, it means any tools/instruments being use for daily living such as cars, bikes, computers etc So Tumpek Landep is a ritual done on these objects. [ see message 3246 for details ] Why the VW Beatle? Because i just happen to see a VW Beatle with all the decorations, so i took the pic. I remarked "So indigenous is this ritual that no parallel can be found, not even with Hindu celebrations in India". I just had a discussion with Devi bahkta and he told me that it is also being practice in India. He remarked "every hindu, on the appointed day, worships the tools of their trade -- be that a computer or car or cash register or paintbrushes – whatever". I know that we do pooja to new cars, but never heard of tools of trade. He promised to get us more information on this. Thanks again Chumki. Love to you always
