They worship their tools as the vehicle of the Spirit Vishvakamra the lord of craftsman as do many artisans. Tabla wallahs build Tablas by the way. The Muslims of course don't do this and many of the Tabla wallahs are indeed muslims. I have been trying my hand at this for over a year now and it is not fun work, but can be very rewarding. I like knowing I am one of the only white guys in the US who is tuning and building Tablas! I found out that in Pune where I will be living for some time there is a temple for Yogeshwai or Jogeshwari........anyone here know anything about her?
