Guest guest
No! No! this is not a series from the Star War Movie, but an important announcement to all members of Shakti Sadhana. For the past few days starting from 30th September Shakti Sadhana have been `attack' by person/persons, attempting to send files containing virus. The moderators have maintain the silence but I feel that it is time for us to tell others about it as these "attacks" have become regular, to almost everyday . staff have been alerted and they are monitoring. Several others are also being notified of this matter. I have spend several days with the help of support tracking the route of this person/persons. Abuse notices have been submitted. I call these Clones are they come from "spoof" emails but we know the original emails. Once we block the set of email address, a new ones appear. Come to think of it, its like the Asuras in the Devi Mahatmyam. ".. Whenever from his body there fell to the ground a drop of blood, at that moment rose up a from the earth asuras of his stature .. " "… From the blood rose up ( fresh ) combatants of his form and valour" So this is a reminder to all members, to take extra precautions when you open up any file attachment. It is risky if your computer do not have any anti virus program. Please get one. Much better if you have firewell program too. You can download them for free but with minimal features. They still able to provide you with the protection against intrusion. These are the following advise given to us to stop it from infecting our group 1. DO NOT ALLOW EMAIL ATTACHMENTS in your group. This is how the virus is spread (as an attachment) This will mean that any members who post via email and who use HTML formatting will not see any of the HTML once the post reaches the group. Setting your group this way will strip any posts of attachments and HTML coding to make the post appear as plain text. That's what the [non text portions of this email have been removed] line means when you receive posts via email. 2. Since there are versions of the Klez virus that will disable people's personal anti-virus programs, it's a good idea to book- mark an online virus scanning site. Here are two good sites to use and they will give instructions on removal of any viruses you may have on your computer: http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp If you know someone who does not have a personal anti-virus program, they can get a free one here: http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm I would recommend that you advise your members to use the site above or a similar one to do an online scan so they can be sure they are not infected. 3. If you know who originally infected the group with the virus, try to contact that member via Messenger or an alternate email address if one is known. Suspend his/her posting privileges until the matter is resolved. 4. Make sure the posting settings in your group are set to members only. If you have your group set so that anyone (including non- members) can post, then anyone can send an email to your group. 5. Periodically check sites like Symantec (they are the creators of Norton's Anti-Virus) to see if there are ways to avoid getting viruses on your computer. Make sure the virus threat is a legitimate one, there are hoaxes around that will tell you to delete files off your computer that may be required to keep your computer working properly. A good site to check is: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ You can also do an online virus scan at that address too by clicking on the link under virus definitions. Another good site to check for hoaxes is: http://www.snopes2.com/ Thank you for your attention May Mother protect us all !!!
